Danish mods

Well, I don't care who gets Kazeite's Black Pearl working, but I know whoever does will be on my most popular list!!! (Not that my popular list is worth anything, but still...) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

Hey Mr. TrippleT ... good find with that uniform site .. I also found it yesterday and have been reading through it!

First of all infantry and marines uniforms were very different with regards to colours depending on your regiment affiliation, however I seem to be finding some similarities that should be taken into account.

Now the one thing I must immediately urge you to reconsider is the blue/yellow scheme you have noticed in your post above ... blue and yellow are the colours of Sweden the sworn arch enemy of Denmark in that period of history. And almost all Swedish uniforms were distinctly coulored in blue and yellow.

Blue and Yellow = Sweden
Red and White = Denmark
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

The large picture you post is not neccecarily Danes as the article is about all the northern states and their 250 years of almost constant wars.

What I am getting at is that there might have been the odd Danish regiment with bluish and yellowish colur schemes but it would simply be really bad taste to have those colours in a Danish mod ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Danish Infantry Uniforms 1699-1712

The color plate illustrates the cuffs for all of the Danish infantry regiments in the period 1699-1712; and in addition, presents individual figures representing typical Danish infantry of the time.

Until now no original color illustrations or pictures from the period have been found. The colors have been taken from textual information in the Rigsarkivet, and the basis for the uniforms and other equipment are mainly based on the Rosenborg Loft stuccos from 1706 which shows the Land Militia in 1704. In addition, there are a few original items in the Tøjhus in Copenhagen.

(From left to right)

1. Musketeer, Fynske Regiment, in cassock
The cassock is a reconstruction from a small engraving which illustrates Frederik 4’s anointing 15 April 1704. As mentioned in an earlier article in Chakoten, no clear drawing or description of the Danish cassock has been found. As a result, this is the illustrators impression of how this clothing item appeared.

2. Non-commissioned Officer, Prins Carls Regiment
Non-commissioned officers’ distinctions from the period are unknown, but there must have been some. Probably the distinctions were on the hat and eventually the cuffs and buttonhole border in either gold or silver according to the button color, and the indispensable non-commissioned officers’ cane. The hat is an early model with only one side fastened up. Non-commissioned officers did not carry a firearm, except in the grenadier companies, but were instead armed with halberd and infantry sword.

3. Grenadier, Kronprinsens Regiment
He is armed with a grenade firearm, here drawn after the Tøjhus model 1734, but there was hardly a great deal of difference with earlier models. This grenade firearm was especially useful in the many trench combats and sieges of the time. Likewise, he is carrying a small handaxe with which all grenadiers at the beginning of the 1700’s were equipped. Inspiration for this quite useless armament, which quickly disappeared again, probably came from combat with the Janissary (Turkish elite troops) around 1700. On the whole, the Turkish opponents inspired many military fashion traditions. Grenadier caps are one of them, and thatr infantry officers over the next 50 years are always portrayed in cuirass is another.

His grenadier cap with fur front is reconstructed after the description in Vrigny, and is how the Southern European caps appeared. The crown could also be of the “shark fin model” which one can see on contemporary French grenadier caps.

4. Grenadier Non-commissioned Officer, Dronningens Regiment
Grenadier non-commissioned officers carried the NCO cane, musket, short bayonet and infantry sword, but never the halberd.

5. Officer, Schacks Regiment
As a sign of rank he carries a short pike, possibly on used on parades. In the field he was further armed with a pair of pistols which were placed in the sash. As further signs of rank, he wears a gorget, sik sash and a wig.

6. Musketeer, Sjællandske Regiment
He is attired in red leather gaiters, a clothing item which appears around 1700. In Denmark it is mentioned for the first time in the Resolutions of 1712. On his back he has a “ransel” (backpack) in which he kept his personal items in the field.

7. Musketeer, Oldenborgske Nationale Regiment
His uniform and equipment are drawn after the stucco in the Rosenborg Loft. Notice that he is not wearing a hairbag. If the hair was quite long, it was placed up under the hat, eventually in the form of a “hestehalefrisure” (pony tail hair style).

8. Drummer, Jydske Regiment
Danish drummers appear not to have worn reverse colors, which one often sees in Southern Europe at this time. He is only furnished with a pointed collar, which is also on the figure in the stucco in the Rosenborg Loft. If the regimental commander had money, and the desire to use it, the drummer could also have red-white braid on the arms, front, back and pockets. The drums were probably of painted wood, and decorated with the regimental arms or the King’s double monogram. Drums of brass were used at this time in Brandenburg-Prussia, but such items appear to have been too expensive in Denmark.

And finally our King Christian IV on board the flag ship TREFOLDIGHED (which I will be getting back to ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> ), where the king lost his one eye during the seabattle 1. juli 1644 at Kolberger Heide - between Fehmern og Kielerfjorden (Denmark and Preussen):

Look at the many different looks around that ship! Anyway if you look at the soldiers (marines) with armour and feather hats and at the gunners they are wearing red coats!

So Mr. TrippleT, if you ask me I see alot of white in those uniforms from the pictures above and also a lot of red and really not that much blue and yellow <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Anyway don't mind my ramblings to much Thomas, it's just that the Dane in me is ... hmm ... well ... challenged for the lack of a better word, when seeing the Swedish colours suggested for a Danish mod <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Thank you for doing this Thomas, it is very much appreciated

All the best
Frans

Very nice, Frans.

Excellent finds on these large reference images. These'll come in REAL handy. **grins**

I'm lookin' real forward to this.

Cap'n Drow

No worries when the toolpack is done you can do everything from within that.

Design new ships, export them to the game.
Design new Chracters and again export them into the game.
Make new missions, etc. etc.

A lot of cool things without the need of extra tools.

And thats the part I'm really looking forward to, Cyberops. Will we be able to export animations as well, so we can add new ani's to characters and things?

Cap'n Drow

Nice pictures, but i don`t think it is smart to pick red coat or white with blue, red= looks like english white+blue= almost the same as my french soldiers.

@Doober, i have ported kazeites black pearl for about 4 weeks ago, it is on the ftp in Thomas the Terrror skinning.

yes you can also do animations but that is the hardest part there is and takes some time. Therefore it also takes some time to make the toolpack lol

no kisses from guys please <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Are you going to release it with the next update?
Maybe we should make a special thread of what things are modded, so you can see better what is done.

Erm, Thomas, I tried out the Black Pearl that was under Thomas the Terror Skinning, and I had the same problems where the collision detection didn't seem to be working. Is there anything special I need to do? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

no, the collision detection has the same fault as in POTC, because kazeite hasn got maya 4.5 he is not able to make proper collision. and for the crew going through the walls, i had to let the pearl use the walk files of the pinnace, otherwise there wasnt any crew on it.

oke, the next post should be danish mod related again :p

Oh, that's what I was talking about with AdmiralKoch and Cap'n Drow. they said they had Maya 4.5, so I was hoping beyond hope that they would be able to figure out the collision detection and finally have that ship working properly.

And yes, I will stop talking about it as that's not what the thread is about. Sorry all! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
