DEAR LORD! WHY IS THIS HERE!

Heh, it had me ROTFL, I'll say that for it! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

The question is, who wasnt?! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I once found a really funny Lord of the Rings spoof; I just can't remember where it was. GRRRRR!
Anyway: It was something like:

Gandalf: We must destroy this ring.
Frodo: How are we going to do that?
Gandalf: We must throw it in Mt. Doom.
Frodo: So that means we need to do months and months of travelling through dense forests and swamps, being pursued by Orcs and being led by untrustworthy scum, right?
Gandalf: Nah. I know I couple of Eagles that can just fly us there. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Why didnt they do that in the first place, it would have made things a lot easier, and far less people would have died!

Because otherwise there'd hardly be a movie, of course!!!
But that's actually a very legit question. I always did wonder where the HECK those eagles came from. Anyone read the book? Anyone could tell me? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I read the books. They cant because they refuse to fly too far east - to mordor. They go as far as Bjorn's house, and thats not that much further east then Isenguard. Plus, they dont want to go anywhere near the ring. They can rescue Sam and Frodo because the ring id destroyed and the evil there is gone. Plus, they come for the battle of the black gates, because that battle holds the fate of the world, and if Gondor lost, then Mordor would take over everywhere, and the Eagles wouldnt have any nests to sleep in!

LOL! That makes sense; at least more sense than not explaining it at all in the movies. Wished they'd put some explanation in there in the special edition movie... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I guess that they thought it was already long enough! Now for our 17 hour movie, The Lord of the Rings! Now with explanations!

Maybe they thought that if you wanted to know, you'd ask someone who'd read the books!

Or <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> read the books yourself! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

They are great... Heh...

The Nazgul would have made feather headdresses of the eagles if they'd tried to fly into Mordor when the power was still there... (Mordor has a "no-fly zone"!) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Id trade my ship for one of their fell beasts any day! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I once started to read the book, but there were page-long descriptions of how the landscape looked, so it just couldn't keep my attention. Maybe, in the upcoming vacation, I'll try again. After I read Harry Potter 6, of course. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

The beggining is a bit dry, Ill give you that, but the middle is the good bit, even if the language is a bit old. Now, you can moan about the film, even though it is a near-perfect adaption, and only cuts out the boring and unneccesary bits! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I ain't moaning 'bout the movies; I really liked them. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

So did I. The only thing that was cut out that would have been good was Saruman's scouring of the shire (but Return of the King was long enough anyway, so I see why) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I think one of my most favorite parts in the movies was in RotK when Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli take the Corsairs ships and send the Dead after the Orcs! At first it looks like three against tens of thousands, and then the Dead just MOW THEM DOWN! WhooHOO! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

PLUS it's PIRATES!!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Yes, that part was GREAT! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

That was a really fun part...

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> NOW I'm probably going to waste the day away watching the (extended version!) movies, LOL! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Pippin was always one of my favorite characters - and I love how they handled him in the movie... He was just a little guy but he got to be a Gondorian Tower Guard - which is a very cool thing...

When I was a WHOLE LOT younger (back in the Stone Age, LOL!) I was part of a Tolkien fan club and we had costumes & did things like have Bilbo's Birthday and RPG and wargame together and that kind of thing. I made a Gondorian Tower Guard costume (which given my limited funding at the time actually turned out rather decently). I LOVE how they made them for the movie... Sure wish I could have one of THOSE, heh!

Ayup. GreatZen's skill items.
I hesitate to say this, but I've been considering ways to _force_ you to pick it up. Like, you don't, and then it magically appears in your inventory, or a crewman comes up and says "you forgot this, cap'n!" or something.
{text: "It's bad luck to find a dead albatross, as every sailor knows. Now, how can you get rid of it?"}
Do I smell a job for...Sneaky Trader?

I think the question on how to get rid of the Albatross has not been answered. Can anyone share?
