Need Help Direct sail?

A noob here loving this game with new horizon mod, excellent work, thank you.

Im on ironman mode and i have a compass so im sailing using time accelaration x20 for the most part. Is this what direct sail is or is direct sail some other feature i just dont know how to use. Been searching the forum but seems everyone knows what this is, everyone but me ;))
 
DirectSail is indeed the feature that allows you to sail from island to island without using the worldmap.
It is the only way to travel in Iron Man Mode, so indeed you are correct. :yes
