Dutchman

LOL! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

must be an ebony deck or something. which is impossible, as it would just about double the weight. maybe more. maybe less. whatever.

Ok then maybe the pearl's deck isn't completely black but i know for a fact its darker than it is on the build mod, on DMC when the kraken is attacking the pearl you see the masts and deck and they are dark.

we KNOW. anyway, it can be done, and i don't really care if it's logical or not. i just want a black deck. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

OK then.

You know, I used stock deck texture in order to reduce number of textures... But considering that every damn ship seems to have her own deck texture these days, I might just as well make another one... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Curse you, <i>Akella</i>, for hard-coding texture names! Gone are the days of <i>Quake 3</i>, where every single model relied on external file for texture information... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

(Another interesting question: how come that nobody is complaining that <i>Pearl</i>s steering wheel isn't black, since it <b>is</b> actually supposed to be black? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />)

Actually ..i was going to say that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

dunno....guess because it looks better like that in comparison to the light deck colour. might as well change it.

I actually like the light deck colour. Same for the light steering wheel. But that's just me, I suppose. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

And to completely bust that myth, this is the actual color of actual deck:

<img src="http://kazeite.republika.pl/PotC/deck_color.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

As you can hopefully see, definitely not black <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Nope, not black. Looks grayish, actually. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

woody, actually. i do think it was black at some point, i just don't remember in which movie. i can't imagine them tarring it, as that would have reuslted in some very funny situations.

FWIW, the screenshot above is from the first movie - battle between the <i>Interceptor</i> and <i>Black Pearl</i>, to be precise. And, yeah, deck maybe not, but to me steering wheel looks like it was covered in tar.

(edited to explain that this particular post doesn't contain any screenshots <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )

The screenshot doesn't seem to be loading for me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I always thought that the Pearl's deck was a darkish grey with specks of the original colour showing through. (If it helps)

those might be untarred spots. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Since the story is that the Pearl was the Wicked Wench after being burned, sunk and raised, I always assumed that she was black because of the burning.

doesn't make sense why the deck's not black in the first film though. but i have heard that.
