Funny thing is i have not noticed the actual deck color of Black Pearl in the first movie too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
I partly remember it was black or something near black. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
 
maybe it's because of the part where davy jones enters the story. there, he's walking on a black deck, but that's not the pearl. it did give me the impression of the pearl's deck being black though, for some reason.

I think the producers didn't think that it would matter, CotBP was a hit and hope film, they didn't think it would do well enough to warrent 2 frankly fantastic sequels, so they didn't think of the Jack's and the Pearl's backstory until Beckett was introduced in DMC.
Of course this is just my theory, I may be completly wrong.

I've always read that the Pearl was originally the Wicked Wench with Jack as her captain working for the EITC, Jack was supposed to deliver slaves for Beckett, but refused. That's when Becket ordered the Wicked Wench burnt and sank and Jack was branded a pirate, soon after he made his pact with Davy Jones to ressurect the Wench which Jack rechristened the Black Pearl.<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jackhat.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j2" border="0" alt="jackhat.gif" />

i dont think that the backstory has much to do with becket, its because of Davy Jones..

Beckett has EVERYTHING to do with the back story, if he hadn't sent Jack to deliver slaves Jack wouldn't have refused, and in turn he wouldn't have been branded a pirate and the Wicked Wench wouldn't have been burnt and sunk and Jack wouldn't have made the pact with Jones to raise her from the ocean depths. So Beckett actually has A LOT to do with the backstory.

If they do make PoTC 4 it sould be "the legend of Jack Sparrow" telling about Jack's exploits
 
We are telling Jack's about exploits, but at the moment we're calling the film "Hoist the Colours". "The Legend of Jack Sparrow" is already another computer game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
on a different note I downloaded flying dutchman 3.0 and endeavoir 1.1 and i've got build thirteen final but i'm not sure what to do with it
 
I don't really recommend trying to install them; unless you know what you're doing, people tend to mess up their game version when doing so. I hadn't gathered you actually did want to go through with it. Put the model and texture files in their appropriate folders and put the appropriate code into PROGRAM\Ships\ships_init.c and RESOURCE\INI\TEXTS\English\common.ini.
