I was trying to capture greenford, as part of the new EIC quest, and instead of going to the fort to fight the soldiers, it was all on ship. And it was always on the same deck, for about 40 times. Is this normal!?
 
No, its not normal. The same happened to me when I tried to take a spanish port.

But right now we are - literally speaking - drowning in the bugs 14 alpha brought along. I will report it as a bug on our internal bugtracker, now its confirmed by you (thx by the way <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )

I am not a coder, but it must be something around the ingame-math, as the number of men on your ship should be counted in for the number of men at the fort. Did you manage to take the fort after the 40 times of fighting?
 
i think this is caused by a sail-ho message occuring during the fight. i've had it happen a few times myself, but never when assaulting a fort.
 
And it was all going so well (nearly). I'll wait for build 14.8 then I think. I kind of gave up trying to capture when I lost count of the decks I'd fought through (I wouldn't have minded but they were all the same deck). That and I got shot by a soldier with a pump action shot gun. I couldn't face trying again to capture the fort again after that!

Let us hope that build 14.8 restores some sanity to the situation. Although, buggy as it is, 14.7+ is still way better than stock POTC.
 
Yes, I sure hope so as well. I'm getting fed up with sickeningly buggy game versions.

Build 12.1 hasn't crashed once in about 10 hrs of play. No quest-breakers yet either, but I'm only up to TRYING to take over Greenford Fort.

Even in a Class 2 Dreadnought I still can't hit any of them darn fort cannons. Maybe I might go back a few saves and practice on Fdf or Oxbay. The bay of Greenford is hard to maneuver in a large warship. Even with 10 cannon. accuracy, sailing, defense, and repair ( along with all the repair perks) I'm still getting sunk before I can take out those guns. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
 
Try getting multiple ships.
I think Build 12.1 is still the most stable Build version: Just as stable as the original game and much more better. Then Build 13 is pretty stable and has many more features. Then the Build 14 Alpha's range from pretty good to bloody darn bad.
 
you can't get any fort with a class 2 ship, except maybe oxbay if you have professional ship defence and a frigate. greenford can be easily taken with a battleship.
 
I did once take Greenford with a pair of frigates, and I still had both at the end. Not quiet sure how, as last time I tried it with the Endeavour and it didn't go well.

Hmm.. I did see a Man-o-War for sale somewhere in either Isla Muella or Redmond, but the price was 900k!

Tried to look for a class 1 while hunting English Imperialist Dogs but every ship is class 2 or below. Hmm, maybe I should switch to those bloody Spaniards. Seems the Dutch are at war with England and Spain, so maybe I'll get a LoM and earn some more property as well. I sure miss my Schooner though. Bloody excellent pirate ship. Fastest ship in the game it seems, with realistic Sailing set on. I can sail circles around those vaunted Corvettes all day long, and they are hard-pressed to even hit me with full broadsides! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />
 
When you start working on that EITC stuff how come you can't work for the governor of redmond anymore, not even to tell him about the french attack. Anyone else get that problem? I can talk to the guy I just don't get any options to say anything important to him.

And when you join the EITC beckett promises a flag to be delivered to you ship. I didn't get it... I want my flag. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
 
About losing your Schooner: Ever heard of Ship Berthing? You can berth your Schooner at a port for later use. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

The idea with the EITC quest is that you can do it at the same time as the original main quest and they work together. Worked fine for me last time I checked. Also the EITC flag is just a dialog thing and does not work yet ingame. Perhaps when Pirate_KK makes his Flags mod, we can add this functionally. Thomas the Terror made an EITC flag though which you could set as your personal nation flag if you like. PM him for the file.
