Friedrich Wilhelm zu Pferde from PotBS - ported by pgargon

Pieter, Pieter I give you a finger and you take my arm... :cheeky
Okay, I have problems with the FTP an need a adress from you for the changed files. :hmm

Sorry... :eek:ops2
In my defence, I did ask it for the others too originally:
Pgargon, would you be able to put the flagpole in its own GM file for this ship and your others too?
Otherwise the camera centres too high on the ship, making the hull difficult to see, especially on widescreen monitors. :(

Okay, I have problems with the FTP an need a adress from you for the changed files. :hmm
The details here work for me: http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php/topic/10288-piratesahoy-ftp/

Sorry Pieter. You don't understand me. I can't use the FTP-Commander on my system and I can't upload files on the ftp. I only could send you the files per e-mail. :shrug

Can't use it at all? What happens if you try? You can always use something like www.megaupload.com or something. :doff

Okay Pieter. Here is all what you want ... including the sailorspoints of FWzP. ;)

That's brilliant; thanks a lot! Now we should be able to sort the camera issue on all your ships and import your latest one WITH crew! :bow

I took the liberty of dl'ing this file. It looks like it will be a while before I get back to the frigate rigging.

Thank you Pgargon so much for finally finishing this beauty! :onya :will This was the best birthday gift I could have received. I have waited sooo long for this one to get done. I have successfully ported her into COAS and she is indeed my very favorite ship in the game now. My great thanks to POTBS, Noiriruru for getting us the files and Damski and Pgargon for taking on the beast to get her converted for our use. The only thing I wonder about is if there is some way to darken the light in the lower gun deck inside the gun ports. It looks like natural light is making it into the gun deck and you can see the ocean awash below decks. Other than that she is great. I said I would do a little safety dance if she ever got done. I am confined to a wheel chair and crutches right now, so can't dance but will present this video in tribute instead:

Here is a battle where Frederich William zu Pferde is at the center of the action.

I've also updated my screenshots on MODDB with lots of pics of the Frederich William zu Pferde http://www.moddb.com/members/modernknight1

It's good to have you back MK! :dance

And you beat me. I just started on the FWzP last night and haven't seen her in game yet. :keith

What is her rating anyway? If I counted right she is a 56 gun 3rd rate.

At 56-guns the ZWzP would be a 4th rate I believe as 3rd rates start at the 70 gun range.

As for MK's crediting me for getting the model, I can not take credit for that. That credit goes to SeaNorris, as he is the one who got us the model from the original maker. SeaNorris has also landed us the PotBS models for the Trinity, San Fernando, and 2 other ships from the PotBS shipmaker Remus77 so he should be getting the credit. I do however have some repaints done in the colors of the PotBS faction NPCs I was thinking of submitting for the build mod.

I stand corrected. I'm using the stats from the 4th rate NL_Lineship2. I hope those are close enough.

This is going to take a while. I met her at sea and she worked well. Too well! She was flying pirate colors and I'm afraid my 6 lb. peashooters didn't impress her. I need a bigger boat. :sail

You should get to using cheats to just get the ship and do some quick tests. That's what I do all the time. :shrug

Thanks Hylie ole chum. It's good to be back! :gday

Thanks for the clarification Noiriruru. Praise be to the great and talented SeaNorris. You are a gentlemen and a scholar. :onya Thank you Mate!

Actually as far as ratings are concerned - and we've had this conversation before more than a few times... there was no codified rating system in either the English or Dutch navies in the mid 17th century. The Dutch never built anything that could be classified as a 1st rate until the mid 18th century. Their capital ships (1st raters) of the 17th century like the Zeven Provincien and Hollandia, were 80 to 92 guns. So if we go by the British 18th century rating system, she's a 4rth rater, but by 17th century Dutch standards, she's a second or third rater. BTW they were generally more than a match for the larger English 100+ gun ships because their hulls were sturdier, they were faster, and they mounted larger guns. They were mounting 36 pounders when most English ships mounted 24 pounders.

I just reused the ships_init file for the Dutchlineship (Dutch Escort Ship) in COAS and changed some things here or there. She is a class 3 ship in COAS, but I'm considering moving her to class 4 because we lack those kind of ships in that area. I might make her HP lower and make her guns 56 as you have. As of now I rated her for 60 guns.

She sure is a beauty though! Eh Mates? It's like playing a brand new game when I get a few new models. I'm also absolutely smitten in love with SeaNorris's new Ostender Neptunus Privateer. :sail

I have the skills to get the FWzP, but not the rank. I'm a Junior Lieutenant. That's because of the time I spent working on the class 6,7,&8 ships. The only way to get one is to capture it. I just got a class 6 corvette, so I'm on my way up. :dance

We decided for consistency to use one rating system, so the FWzP is a 4th rate.

I counted 56 guns. It doesn't matter what numbers are put in shipsinit.c, only guns with locators will fire.

Lookee what I found! :j2

Yeah, she's a little worse for wear, but there's a good shipyard close by. :wp

Get to the shipyard quick

It looks like she is sinking - with the water visable through the cannonports. :shock

Hmmm ya I forgot there MK.

The rating system DOES get a bit ambiguous at times, especially in Holland as well as Denmark as both these nations have shallow harbors therefore these nations did seem to rate their ships one higher then their deep harbor British, French, and Spanish counterparts. The Zeven Provincien was concidered a Dutch 1st rate and I can only assume that likewise in Denmark the Christianus Sixtus (the largest danish ship of the line that I know of, and that nation's reported flagship) may have been classified as a 1st rate as well.

I just go off the rating system from PotBS as well as Empire/Napoleon :total war and other age of sail games for my rating system.

It's simpler that way.

This is the ratings list I'm working off of.

She was riding a little low in the water but did not sink. The bucket brigade worked overtime. :urgh A simple adjustment to the waterline from 0 to -0.9 has her sitting pretty.
