This tip is for CoAS (Vanilla, GOF, and GOF Eras).
One feature that is not clear in the game manual is how much experience "level" is required to gain new abilities and rank.
Yes, you can turn on the debug option to see individual experience gained for you and your officers like in POTC New Horizons, but not the cumulative amount for new personal and ship abilities, as they are tied with your actions as well.
The answer is actually quite simple.
Click on personal or ship skill tabs, any or your personal rank and the experience level will actually "magically" appear and tell you how far you have to go in points before you gain the ability to select a new skill or level up.
This also works for individual personal and ship skills which are independently counted with improvement based on character actions, just left click on the skill you want experience information on.
Nothing will EVER appear in the experience section, UNLESS you click one of the sections or tabs!
NOTE: Keep in mind, experience growth is exponential in this game, meaning the higher you go the much longer it will take to gain new abilities and rank.
