Need Help Hostage in Cumana - Seeking the Guardians of Truth

Having some issues with the quest Seeking for the Guardian of Truth

I'm currently in Cumana trying to rescue some nobleman on the request of a spanish lady, Belinda de Ribero.
I went to the caves just before midnight and go inside to speak to the kidnapper, he attacks me with the help of some thugs and I defeat them. Now I'm supposed to talk to him but the bugger just cowers and won't open dialogue with me.

Anyone encountered this issue before?

Yep. But it is not a bug. You just didn't kill all the enemies. Search the cave, I think musketeer hiding somewhere (during the fight , they often run away).

Yep, that was it. The bugger was hiding on the other side of the cave.
