Hot Sun in Maracaibo (Flying the Jolly Roger Misson 3) HELP

I am a bit perplexed.

I have everything prepared to storm the plantation in the chest (weapons, potions, pistols, ammo, etc). I march my squad through the jungle to the plantation after notifying Jean Picard. I am approached by Pelly the Cutlass to start the fight "at my command". I approach the plantation and the mission promptly fails (at the correct time), because the "plantation is alarmed".

What exactly am I doing wrong here?
Jean Picard already knows I am coming at 0300 hours as I notified him, the weapons would be in the chest, and all the previous title screens show the completion of the goods delivery to the plantation owner.

I just figured it out by "speaking out loud".

Difficult but not impossible fight, but the whole "shielding" Jean Picard is somewhat stupid.
You have to run around looking for a white shirt.
I wonder how many people have failed to observe the whole "300 seconds before reinforcements arrive from the fort"?

No way I was giving away my multiple muskets in this fight.
