I've downloaded both files, do I just paste them in the folder I used for the last version?

Just make sure you have them both in the same folder (doesn't matter which folder) and that the large file is called "b14_beta4_final.tar" .
Then execute the Installer EXE.

It should be pretty difficult to do it wrong as the process should tell you if something isn't right.

Game crashes to desktop immediately after starting ENGINE.exe and NO error.log???

EDIT: Oh wait, you DID get past the main menu as compile.log indicates you were being reloaded into the cabin.
In that case, it is probably the old and famous Intel Graphics issue again.
