I need help create a body

jean

Master Mariner
Storm Modder
Hello,I have to precise I'm a beginner.I tryed to créate (by simple way I thought)a body by using "avatar studio",after convert in .obj with "tool", after that using "wings 3D" to reposition my guy on the floor, re-using "tool" to convert in .gm . And so I've lost the texture. And if I import my avatar in "tool"
(check the box avatar) when I run the game textures are mixed. Anyway the model doesn't works perfectly(it moves but legs and arms stay static ). Could somebody tell me witch program I need to make it works and perhaps where find a tuto?
I hope I didn't do to much faults with english
Thanks!

Hi,
Firstly I don't profess to fully understanding eveything myself so these are more like suggestions:- (Trial and error)

Texture problem.
TOOL reads tga. files ....the game reads tx. files (convert using TX viewer).
In TOOL before importing your model ...select - reverse normals and invert texture. (might work...experiment between the two)

Animation problem.
Your new model probably doesn't have the nessessary data stored in the uv's ...so make sure before you import it into TOOL that it is in the raised arms
arms position.
In TOOL before importing your model ...select Make bone locators , this hopefully will write the data in.
Suggest reading the TOOL's help files (click on the ? in the toolbar).

Good luck ....hope it works.

What did?

dissapearing textures. trying to use an alpha map made that dissapear. oh, and putting your name under a teeny post like that looks slightly silly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

excuse me, i seem to have completely lost the ability to refrain from typing things i think i shouldn't even say. referring to the last sentence in the alinea above. and MANY other posts i made today.

eh... i meant that if you apply an alpha map, the texture dissapears. so did you?

Thanks for your answer (I'm a little late) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> .In fact now I import and export directly in *vrml in max 3d,so I get my textures. For now the problem is with x,y,z locations.I think I can resolve it but if you've an idea I'm buyer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Has anybody figured out Maya yet? That should work better than anything else.
Alpha maps indeed make textures disappear, but not in the TOOL, I think.
Anyway, if the textures don't have an alpha map on purpose, that can't be the problem. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
