I now leave it up to you coding gurus to make it a special ship <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

In the meantime, where can I edit the attributes of the vanilla lineship? Want to make this puppy fun to sail on my own till you guys can load up the code for making it a unique ship.

ENJOY! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

PS. Does anyone know where I can find the following:

-National flag textures (REALLY need to edit those things)
-Mast textures

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Updated texture has been uploaded <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Okay....

1) Awesome work, Balck!

2) Edit the ships statistics in \program\ships\ships_init.c

3) Mast textures will be in \resource\textures I believe. But I'm not sure about that.

4) Same place as 3 for the flag textures I believe.

PotC flag textures are in RESOURCE\Textures\flagall.tga.tx; maybe the same for CoAS?
For making the ship unique, I should expect you only need to make a new entry in ships_init.c,
though maybe the CoAS multiplayer code complicates things a bit as far as that's concerned... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Did Seaward.ru make this model? There is something wrong with that stern-texture, it does not align with the blue upper hull texture, you see it?

If you kept the golden windows in that stern texture, but colored the rest of the golden and black areas blue, it would be much better, I think. Just a suggestion, though.

I see what you mean. The texture just... changes into something else at the stern. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Yeah I noticed that, it isn't supposed to however. It is meat to be the stern cabin, as such not supposed to line up with the blue. The odd part is that the bulb of the cabin turns back at an angle. The part you can't see from the rear quarter you can see from the side and the front. If you look at the ship from above you can clearly see the cabin's shape.

I went with the color scheme of the historical ship though. Let's see if I can do something about that. Be right back <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

PeterWillemoes, what do you think of this?

<a href="http://img193.imageshack.us/i/18689173.png/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/3427/18689173.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>

tried to blend the two as best as possible keeping to the historical model.

Yes thats exactly what was needed! As the windowpart bulbs from the stern and make a break to the shape, would that not be more historical correct, you think?

One more suggestion: you could also texture the lower part under the windows to match the planks going across the side the same way, but you could also leave it as it is, it looks great <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thank you sir, glad it meets your approval.

I believe I misunderstood your earlier comment a bit. However, it does look a lot better <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It might need to stay as is, the Mrs. is rumbling a bit <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Will upload the texture shortly.

Also, I've tried finding the ship in the ships_init.c The "lineship" (which is the texture's ship type) doesn't match the gun caliber, crew size or any other stat of the one I have in game. Am I to assume I would have to start a new game, hope to find this puppy, and then sail it with slightly better handling?

Here she is in action <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

<a href="http://img25.imageshack.us/i/93928195.png/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/6075/93928195.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>

Took her up to Bermuda, now does 15.29 knots, upped the maneuverability too. Lotsa fun! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Oh, it's not about what I like or not, its about you being satisfied as well, and what difference these small things do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Why is the texture flushed? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I mean why is it having somekind of white transparent layer on it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> Don't like that effect on the texture. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

Please explain where this effect is.

If you're talking about the bottom of the hull, that is supposed and meant to be white.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Even older than the sheathing methods were the various graving and paying techniques. There were three main substances used: White stuff, which was a mixture of train oil, rosin and brimstone; Black stuff, a mixture of tar and pitch; and Brown stuff, which was simply brimstone added to Black stuff. It was common practise to first apply wood sheathing and then pay it with white stuff, although black stuff was occasionally used in this way.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
