Is it worth the $9.88?

Ok, so the summary of my own comparison between the two games, based on what I read in this thread and others must be:

AoP:Caribbean Tales is a graphically updated release in the Sea Dogs series, now with even more bugs in addition to an even more sucky mainstory...

Just courious: Would it be possible to transfer the complete PotC files to AoP with only the updated graphics engine from AoP left in the main library to run the show? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Also, this game was originaly designed to be a mod for POTC
NFW

it was intended as a new game to use a new graphics engine.

Unfortunately it was never developed (simply released unwritten)

What we have here is POTC envy that cannot even remember what POTC looks like.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Oh yes , this WAS originaly designed ro be a mod for potc, that was the general idea of this game. You see, the guy who developed AOP is actualy a member of this forum. A WAAAY back, he anounced that he and his colleagues where disapointed about potc, and that they have begun to make a mod for it, envolving the orginialy plot for SDII(Sea Dogs II was the game orginaly the succesor to seadogs, that is , before disney bought it and rushed a convetion to POTC trough, in wich the devs had to follow a disney plot , remove content and reducing the planned 30 islands to 6 in order to get the job done on time).

However, there was lots of intrests back in though days in such project, and their website recieved lots of hits. So developer Akella started to smell money and putted the guy from this forum in charge of a team of developers and give them green light to make their own game, and thus making their own engine.

And that is how this crappy game came on the market, never the less it was initialy developed as a mod for potc

how unlikely it may sound, you can't transfer (player)moddels from POTC to AOP, you can however transfer from AOP to POTC, becouse the AOP (player)moddels actually have LESS pollys then POTC's

So from what your saying AoP was a carefully developed alternative to POTC that was rushed out and ruined by greed.

I didn't say that either. I just said that this "game" was originaly developed to be a free mod for POTC. What you say may be true, I don't know

Its a great game with Mods, although im sure most people might think me insane, i actually enjoy AOP with Supermod then i do POTC With the Build Mod. I have both installed but i like AOP better. Im probaly in the minority on that though.

They both have their plusses in my book. I definitly like the updated graphics in AoP. But there is a lot more developed mods for PotC. I know for a fact that AoP could have been as good as PotC. Exhibit 1, the russian mods that have been made for AoP which appear to rival and even beat out some of our own efforts on PotC. Exhibit 2, City of Abandoned ships. Which is basically and advancement of the 2.5 engine with piles of new content made by one of the Russian mod groups and released for sale in Russia last year, and the rest of the world this next (so they have said) christmas time.
