They've also announced a LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean game to be released,
which will follow the same style as LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Batman and LEGO Harry Potter.

BILLUND, Denmark, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The LEGO Group and Disney Consumer Products today announced an upcoming collection of LEGO® brand Pirates of the Caribbean construction toys that will set children's imaginations sailing on thousands of build-and-play adventures. Scheduled to launch in spring 2011, eight new building sets will bring the action, stories and characters of the entire series of Pirates of the Caribbean films to life in LEGO form, including the spring 2011 premiere of the fourth installment, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

"The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is a classic favorite among families and children around the world," said Jill Wilfert, vice president licensing & entertainment at The LEGO Group. "The pirate theme is always a strong player in the LEGO portfolio, and the Pirates of the Caribbean brand offers the quintessential pirate experience with familiar characters, stories and scenes, allowing us to develop even more authentic and exciting models for children and collectors."

"Collaborating with The LEGO Group on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is sure to be another great example of how together, we merge timeless characters and stories with a versatile play pattern to create exciting ways to play for children and fans of all ages," said Vince Klaseus, senior vice president of global toys, Disney Consumer Products. "We look forward to giving children a chance to recreate the adventures from the big screen, while adding their own creative twists and ideas through LEGO building."

In a companion release today, Disney Interactive Studios, TT Games and the LEGO Group announced that LEGO Pirates of Caribbean: The Video Game is scheduled for release on multiple video game platforms in May 2011.

Apparently my attempt at getting this on the main page didn't work. Oh well...

In any case, this does sound very good to me. I love LEGO, so... :cheeky
Too bad that there won't be a Black Pearl or Flying Dutchman; and by the sounds of it, I'm not even sure there'll be a Davy Jones minifigure.
Oh well, he isn't my favourite character anyway, as long as there's Jack, Will, Elizabeth and Barbossa, it'll be pretty darn cool anyway.

If they ever do make a Black Pearl, I hope they'll take a leaf out of this model's book:

That one quite happily adorns my window these days, together with the Spanish Armada ship. :wp

That ship DOES look great! It's what my younger brother wants for Christmas, too. Not cheap, that. :shock
However, that ship is missing a spanker sail!
Sorry, but after seeing all these wonderful models in our game, I've become incredibly fussy about ships. :cheeky

Indeed; that's the main weird thing with that ship: no sail at her stern at all and only one jib.
I wouldn't fancy tacking with THAT one. Still, very beautiful! :woot

Cheers, mate! At least now I know who to contact to put stuff on the main page.
I PM-ed Keith, but that apparently didn't work. :facepalm

No problem. :onya

Keith is usually online on Steam at least once a day, so maybe the forum just ate the PM - does that an awful lot to me. xD:

Looks awesome. I'm so getting this. Already seen pictures of the sets and they look amazing. Now all we need is lego LOTR or GTA: Lego City

See here for a lot more news and pictures of the sets and a trailer and pictures from the video game:

Lots of good stuff there! Wished I could see it all, but my internet won't let me. :facepalm

HOT DAMN! I'm a Lego fanatic! how did I miss this? Well anyways I'm going to get me a 2-4 sets expensive or not.. I gotta have Lego Jack Sparrow! :woot
