I'm interesting in diving into Trading to see how that works out. In the beginning, it sucks absolute butt if you don't have skill points in it, or an officer with anything in it. You gain a better percentage at the shops when your points go up, plus the modifiers in abilities - I want to see how lucrative it can be to do actual trading.

Trading can be pretty insanely profitable. In one trip from one island to the next, with a trading skill of 3, I made 80,000 piasters trading a hold full of cinnamon in my caravel. The trip took me about 30 seconds.

Just 3 points? That's what, 6% bonus? Do you have a treasurer at all, or just those 3 points?

I wonder what it is like with the skill maxed out and the ability modifier. That's a whole 30% modifier.

Oh, and I would like to point out that I'm a sword fighting GOD! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

I was asked by Governor Frenchypants of Guadelope to take St. Kitts. I thought I had enough men to take it once I destroyed the fort, but I wasn't counting my actual soldier number in the mix ... So it was 400 versus my 250. (Oops)

I took out 5 men before I noticed my guys were getting taken over. I was surrounded ... I hit the SHIFT key faster than wolverine on angel dust. They ALL missed hitting me. This kept going. So I finally find time enough to press B to knock them back. Wash, rinse, repeat.

10 minutes later - St. Kitts in the property of the Frenchies. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
