Is there anyway you can change your characters main nation etc. from English to Spanish ?

The logical way I can think of is to increase your reputation with Spain specifically and troll the English. Maybe even wave a false Spanish flag permanently?

Not at the beginning but later on if you could get a reference letter from any spanish Gouverneur for the spanish General Gouverneur. This can happen earliest after you did 5 or 6 jobs for a spanish Gouverneur.
