So i've been researching more and more about the golden age.

So far, i've got about 4-5 books on.

What books do you recommend on it?

Hornblower series all the way!
Also Captain from Connecticut by the same author.

Hope some of these may be of interest to you :read

Books written at the time:-

A General History of the Robberies & Murders of the Most Notorious Pirates - by Capt. Charles Johnson ( sometimes listed as by Daniel Defoe)
Edition edited by Manuel Schonhorn is best but any will do.

The Buccaneers of America - by A O Exquemelin - covers the Jamacian pirates/ privateers of the 1660's to 1680's

General Books about the Pirates & the way they lived:-

Life Among The Pirates ( in USA titled Under the Black Flag) - by David Cordingly
Pirates Adventurers of the High Seas - by David F Marley
Daily Life of Pirates - by David F Marley

Short biographies of Pirates & others associated with them:

Pirates and Privateers of the Americas - by David F Marley ( single volume published 1994) covers period 1650-1700
Pirates of the Americas - by David F Marley ( Two volumes published 2010) updated version of previous book covers period 1650 - 1725.

Both books cover several hundred people

Biographies:

Harry Morgan's Way - by Dudley Pope - biography of Sir Henry Morgan 1635-1684
If a Pirate I Must Be... - by Richard Sanders - biography of Bartholomew Roberts
The Republic of Pirates - by Colin Woodard - covers Blackbeard, Sam Bellamy, Charles Vane and Woodes Rogers ( the Bahamas pirates of the 1710's & 1720's)

History of the Naval Campaign against Piracy:

The Pirate Wars - by Peter Earle

The Law and how it changed:

Pirates of the British Isles - by Joel Baer
Looks at how the laws changed to combat piracy ( removal of trial by jury etc.) - compares the careers of Henry Morgan - William Dampier - Henry Avery - William Kidd - Blackbeard - Bartholomew Roberts.

If you are interested in the original documents of the time ( trail reports- Newspapers - etc.) :-

British Piracy in the Golden Age - History and Interpretation 1660-1730 - edited by Joel H Baer ( 4 volumes - very expensive :shock )

:cheers

And don't forget Captain Marryat. Since he was a navy officer and captain, he knows what
he tells us, from his own life, and some of his books are real good ones.
