Hi all,

As I am just about to get back into POTC I thought I might do a couple of skin variations on Kodo Boon's Jack Sparrow <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jack1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j1" border="0" alt="jack1.gif" /> (at least I think Kodo did the original, please correct me if I'm wrong).

I was originally thinking a new outfit for each advancement in Naval Rank similar to Sid Mier's Pirates! but I couldn't get the heads the way I wanted them <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> so now I am thinking just three variations...

Privateer Jack... A younger Jack, full of hopes and dreams and not afraid of a little soap.
Pirate Jack... Jack a little older a little wiser and a little hairier 'round the chops.
Officer Jack... He couldn't beat 'em so he joined 'em, that's 'Major' Jack to you soldier.

Let me know what you think and wether or not an officer jack is wanted and if so would you guys like a couple of versions of him with a different coat for each nation, ie Red for England, Blue for France, Yellow for Spain, Green for Holland, Purple? for Portugal. Please feel free to make any comments or suggestions, especially on what colour coat for each nation and what nations to include.

I personally think it would be very cool to have differently coloured officer Jack skins. The pictures looks real good. You could actually make the game use one skin ingame for one nation by adding an additional line like "AssignModelTypeNation(isstart, &model, "Category Name", 0.1, NATIONNAME);". We always welcome new skins. Makes our piratey worls less monotonuous. (Is that a proper English word actually? It is a proper Dutch one, but not sure about English)

added one more Jack(Black_Jack), so now there are four new outfits each with unarmoured and armoured textures.

Officer Jack is being particularly annoying with his coat colour changes, he looks ok with darker less authentic coloured coats but the embroidery looks terrible when I use more authentic colouring <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> so I may just stay with the darker colours if nobody seems too fussed about historical accuracy (save me having to do the embroidery from scratch). In my brief search I couldn't find any historical reference images of portugese naval uniform colours in the 1600's so I think I will just use Purple to keep it as distinguished from the others as possible unless anybody has any other suggestions.

I am running everything on the webpage through the game now just to make sure there are no glaring texture issues then I'll whip up some portraits and call it version 1.0 and upload next week so Please any suggestion or thoughts get them in now <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I am also looking through the code to see if I can add Black_Jack to the startup selection without replacing Kodo Boon's Jack as I for one would rather use my skin from scratch (hey thats why I made it) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Also we have the question of dubloons, just how much should these incarnations of Jack be worth, I am thinking 500 for Black_Jack, 1000 for Privateer_Jack, 5000 for Officer Jack and 10000 for Pirate Jack based on existing Tailor prices.

And finally wether or not these textures should be used for NPC's and if so who, what, where. I originally just put them together to use for my PC and as such didn't give much thought outside of that, but if you guys would like to see them in game on other characters please throw some suggestions my way.

I would personally be fine with less authentic colours if it causes so much trouble for you. You should be able to add additional startup model choices without overwriting anything. Just adding some dialog code to Malcolm Hatcher's dialog files. Just add them to the "case "start5":" code and you should be able to easily get it to work. I personally would like to be able to encounter these skins ingame every now and then. It would be a shame to have such good skins in the game and never really encounter them unless you're using them yourself. I think it would be nice to have these skins used for hireable officers or captains and maybe some citizens?

So there I was at 4am putting the finishing touches on 'Jill' the female variations of the "Jack Reworked' outfits that I did and the power goes out, no save, no fun. After that I felt like doing something quick and simple and I remembered there was a pic of Catalina's namesake here, that and my new cuirass survived the black out... So here's my short and sweet of her, yes her, I know she's supposed to look like a man Cat but I'm bored with working on the male textures and this is more to show off the new armour for the ladies than anything else.

It's funny for something so quick and dirty I think I captured the face quite well.

Anyway Jill who the Breastplate (Plain version shown here, there is also a Blue Steel version for the Battle Armour and I will have to redo the Gold version later) was made for will be restarted when I remotivate with at least 3 or 4 different outfits similar to my 'Jack Reworked', although fair warning the face that I am currently partial to using is painfully cute (Unlike the above) and doe eyed (actually Jill kinda looks like High Sea Lass' Avatar now that I think about it) and I have lost her various layers so I am unsure wether I will go to the trouble of 'mean'ing her up again or not.

On other news, the twice mentioned 'Jack Sparrow - Reworked' is complete and in the hands of Pieter, ready to add to the next Build update.
