I'm going to guess the others are (respectively) Quartermaster, Bo'sun, Cannoneer, and Shipwright. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

ahh thats whats they are called <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And again they mixed up Quartermaster and Boatswain <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
Well, correcting that should be a minor issue, if the game´s as open to modding as PotC.

That could be my error <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />

what do you mean mix up though

The description of the Boatswain´s job actually is that what was the task of the Quartermaster on a pirate vessel, representing the crew, handling the boarding action, keeping the account book of the crewmembers etc.
The boatswain has a similar job as the sailing master, only for the hull, that is, making sure cargo is secured, directing boat launching and stuff like that.

Oh, and a shipwright actually is the guy in a port who can fix your ship. The one sailing along with you is called "carpenter" - and if you´re unlucky he´s also the doctor.

By de definition given, de Quartermaster oughta be instead named de Purser, Fred Bob be thinkin'! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

<div align="right"></div><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

As far as I know, back then the Quartermaster was something like the topkick (that´s how LEO translates the German "Spieß", the senior Non-Commissioned Officer and sort of right hand to a company commander) in today´s military. He´s in charge of all crew-related affairs, like payment, discipline, training, food supply etc, but, as Fred Bob pointed out, the trading part is the job of the purser. The Quartermaster is as well the one who makes the orders of the Captain happen in boarding action (while just sailing that´s the job of the First Mate, if any).

Top (or First) (I believe) for land, or bosun for ships (I believe).
Yeah, that's SFAIK now split into the top NCO slot (as the enlisted's representative, and taking care of enlisted business), and the quartermaster corps/division, which has officers, NCOs, enlisted (or maybe only warrants?), and handles all logistics.
Uh, at least in US forces.
Not that I'm an expert. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Neither am I, I´m jus repeating what literature is saying (that´s something I´m supposed to be rather good at <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ).

AND then there´s the little matter that the use of language changed over the last four to threehundred centuries (most prominent example that comes to mind spontanously is purchase, back then it meant plunder, loot, prey etc. hence the phrase "no purchase, no pay" while today purchase has a different meaning)
