OK Pirates. As there is a demand for the good ol fashioned way of uploading files :cheers Ive set the Public FTP up again.

Rules are.

1) All files are for public downloading.

2) All files are Pirate related

3) No full games or warez stuff

4) no porn, or even pirate porn which personally i havnt seen to much of these days but its a crazy crazy business.............or so im told

5) Thats about it

Only other things is, if you upload a file i will move it over to the file center at http://mods.piratesahoy.net so dont panic about it, usually ill pm you to say ive moved it over then ill delete the file from the public server to save space and stop honest people from being....not so honest (remember its a public ftp) Also the ftp has a 100meg limit if by some chance you need more than that just give me an oi! and ill fix it so you can upload it.

Anyways the details are

ftp.piratesahoy.org
user: potc@piratesahoy.org
pass: piratesahoy

Hey Rico, I completely changed my previous post if you wanna check it out. It might be a lot less hassle for you. :woot

Alright, I've followed the directions, but every time I paste something in it says that I'm not allowed to upload files here. Any hints?

Have you the right username and pass :

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->ftp.piratesahoy.net
user: files@piratesahoy.net
pass: piratesahoy<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yeah, I've done all that stuff CaptainDams. I'm able to get into the server and see all the files (especially Keith's creative way of telling people where to put their mods) but when I get in and try to paste in my upload, it tries to load it for a while then gives me an error message saying I don't have permission. But I have put in the password.

This is the error message I keep getting.

An error occured copying a file to the FTP server. Make sure you have permission to put files on the server.

Details:
200 Type set to I
200 PORT command successful
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for JMV Spanish Military Pack `1789-1815`.zip

Okay, I downloaded a program, and I can log in and start copying my file over, and then it fails. It now shows that they are on the server, but they have 0 kb for file size.

I keep retrying but it keeps failing. Why would that be?

PM Keith, matey! De FTP server may be short on disk space ATM! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I tried logging on but no go. It says wrong username and password. Any ideas? Thanks

I just ried it and it worked fine, so im not sure just make sure your caps lock is nt on <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I would like to upload mods for testing, but as I have never done such a thing before I must ask a few very BASIC <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> questions:

<!--`QuoteBegin-Keith`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Keith)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Anyways the details are

<b>ftp.piratesahoy.net</b>
user: <b>files@piratesahoy.net</b>
pass: <b>piratesahoy</b>[/quote]
The "user adminsitrator" login asks for Login(user), Domain and password. Which is which ? "files@piratesahoy.net, ftp.piratesahoy.net, piratesahoy" didn't work.

To use an FTP server I need an FTP program myself, right? Can you recommend any download of one?

I also tried to upload my mods in the "Files" section of piratesahoy.net. After selecting the "upload from your computer" option the Upload Wizard worked for about one minute and then aborted with the message "Error uploading: Directory problem". What's the problem? Could it be browser security settings?

Well, id strongly suggest using a ftp client, im using core ftp, its 100% free and serves my purpose.

<a href="http://www.coreftp.com/" target="_blank">http://www.coreftp.com/</a>

When you start it up it will ask your for the server details and you just put them in, then its a matter of `drag-n`-drop the files you want to upload

A stupid -as always- question: Are the files on the ftp the same as those in the DL section of the Homepage or are they different <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" /> ?

No question is ever stupid, Grimm! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> It's only the unasked question that is stupid! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

The files on the FTP are different. The ones in the downloads section of the site are on a different server - or in a different directory, I believe.
