Pirates of the Caribbean: Patriots and Emperors

Commodore John Paul Jones

Commodore in the Continental Navy
Storm Modder
Good day, Pirates Ahoy! I am looking forward to working with you all on the community's latest undertaking. The project at hand is a Napoleonic/War of 1812 addon, dubbed <b>Pirates of the Caribbean: Patriots and Emperors</b> by some of our modders. I have posted below, a checklist for the completion of this mod.

<u><b>C)</b> Gameplay</u>

Well. That's the checklist. Let's get those sails squared away and embark upon this great adventure.
If there is anything listed above that is either already done and waiting to be compiled, or it is a work in progress, pm me.

hmm if there comes new islands, im in (im good in location cloning, making etc)
also, Dan the lunatic wolf/captain cacares, and I planned to make a completely new town from scratch
but I didnt hear annything from captain cacares...so without his model there comes nothing,

my 2 cents,

Johannes Scherjon

Is this something that has been decided by the community at large or is it a project that you want to get off the ground?

I've been away for a week or so and haven't kept up with what's going on.

Commodore JPJ, you'll see from the 'New Skins' thread that the British fleet pack is nearly complete. I'm working on a 1st Rate reskin at the moment. I was however under the impression that the new ships would be added to the next build and that so would a French, Dutch and Spanish fleets as and when Seb' and I got round to skinning them.

Have I missed something here???

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

the idea is good but i like the build
and when you create a new mod it brings a lot of bugs with it

Johannes, if you like messing around with locations, the Political section would fit you best.

Jackamo, there are many ships, characters, etc. that are appearing all over the community. Lots of people have been talking about a Napoleonic addon, but it never became realized. I've taken matters into my own hands and will compile all the Napoleonic files into a single mod. I also intend to add a few ideas I've had floating about.

Yuke, this isn't quite like the build. It doesn't enhance gameplay and add new features. This mod adds new choices to pick from with those mods. Get the drift? Its not a new game, but a new way of seeing the game.

Has anyone created the U.S.S. Constitution? "Old Iron Sides" is its most known name. Here is a painting of the U.S.S. Constitution and the H.M.S. Guerriere going at it during the war of 1812. Check out the insignias on each ship. Lots of ideas for the U.S. I have found a few of these. If you could direct me to the files that are the flags I may be able to help with them or some other political things. Maybe some of these can go on sails since the number of flags for each nation are limited to one. May cut in on authenticity though.

<img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d4/USS_Constitution_vs_Guerriere.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

Oh yeah! Don't forget to include this flag. During the War of 1812, this flag flew aboard Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship "Lawrence" while commanding an American squadron in the Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813. Perry had named his ship after Captain James Lawrence, the hero of an earlier sea battle off New England whose dying words were "Don't Give Up The Ship". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

<img src="http://www.anyflag.com/history/comper.gif" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

I do want to add everything into the Post Build 12 modpack that fits into it. Only things that really don't belong in there (such as the US replacing Portugal), won't be added into it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

No they don't. It's going to be an add-on pack. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
Or am I very much mistaken? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Well, I would like to see the new skins that have been worked on added to the next build. I'm also going to be working on French and Dutch ships as soon as I get a chance. I'd like to see them added to the next build or as an update as and when.

Taking files that change the calender etc and skinning some of the existing models to make U.S. ships for an add-on probably wouldn't be too hard, but would be quite a lot of work. Some of the stuff like the flags are already there, it's just a matter of adding it all into one zip.

For my part, I'm going to continue with the fleet packs I promissed, after they're done, I might have a look at some of the other skinning projects mentioned above.

I have been reading through the posts above, LOU, and What if a file was added to the directory that contains all the flags in different combos. (Star Spangled Banner, "Don't Give up the Ship", All RN ensigns, all French ensigns, etc.) That way, people can choose which one to use and paste it over the flagall.tga file. Also, LOU, someome did make a frigate like you suggested. It wasn't <i>Old Ironsides</i>, but it was called FRIGATE_USS.

PB, this isn't a whole new mod, nor will this be part of the build. This is a time period expansion that can be added to the game. Its merely a large .zip file that will overwrite all the files that put the game in 1690 and change it to 1812.

Jackamo, when that navy ship pack is finished, pm me. Not only do I wand US ships in the mod, I also want to see British ships (yellow ore) and French ships (dar red) added. This isn't an American thing. I would like to make the game into the Napoleonic era in general.

Maybe that could be something that could be switched using the build settings???

Aye. Mabye a string could be added that lets you choose what combo of flags you want. Something like:

//*********FLAG SETTINGS************************************
#define STAR SPANGLED BANNER 1 // type=string, values= {"The 15 stars and stripes."
#define DONT GIVE UP THE SHIP 0 // type=string, values= {"Oliver Hazard Perry's flag."
#define RED ENSIGN 1 // type=string, values= {"Red Royal Navy ensign."
#define BLUE ENSIGN 0 // type=string, values= {"Blue Royal Navy ensign."
#define WHITE ENSIGN 0 // type=string, values= {"White Royal Navy ensign."
#define TRICOLOUR 1 // type=string, values= {"The Tricolour of Napoleonic France."
#define TRICOLOUR ENSIGN 0 // type=string, values= {"The new French Navy ensign."

I should have posted this link yesterday:

just a questions and some ideas. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

for to be napoleonic period is 1690 to much early? Napolean was not to be born even until 1769 iirc? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

and for to be napoleonic and 1812 calender should go to 1815? War of 1812 did not finish all until battle of New Orlean of january 1815 and Napolean not defeated until battle of Waterloo of june 1815 iirc? and Napolean did not die until 1821 iirc? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

mabe better calender suggestion to be 1790 goes to 1815? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />
or 1769 goes to 1821? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

The 1690 is starting date of current campaign. The people from this project would like to move this date to the year 1812, when Napoleon was just before his greatest defeats.

yes and just to ask they want to include war of 1812 so should go to 1815? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

I´d like to see it start already at 1805, and then when the date becomes 1812 a state of war is declared between the United states and Britain, optinally a starting date like in SMP

That could be possible. But 7 years is a long time to add quests etc. into. I would like to see it happen though. The game could be about a British Captain who fights with the RN untill things go bad and he joins the US to fight the War of 1812. You could also stay loyal to the crown and attempt to put those Americans back under the yoke of England.

To answer the questions above. I think the game would start in 1810... things get worked up, a chance for you to gain a reasonable character and ship, the war starts... you fight to its end in 1815. That would be just the War of 1812.

I really want to see more though, so I will probably try to start the game in 1800. Jack Aubrey was given the <i>Sophie</i> in 1800, so it seem reasonable to me. You are an English lieutenant who escapes on a packet ship. When the Admiral hears of your clever escape, he promotes you to Commander and gives you a Sloop-of-War. Then he assigns you to various missions across the Caribbean, etc. You can guess how the rest goes. I also want to suprise you too, eh?
