Pre Build 13 Modpack

Just in case anyone wants to know: Build 13 is uploading right now and should be done within three hours. The filesize of the final version is 368 MB.

you said it would take only four more hours three hours ago! looks like it increased in size. i can't download it then. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> or is that the build 13 including 12.1?

oh that's just great! i just mysteriously lost 120 mb of free space on my C-drive! AGAIN! it will reappear eventually, but only partially. dammit i hate my peice of junk! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Me suggests you be doing some defrag, house cleaning, throwing outs da junks, and cutting back on your pagefile sizes!

You could prolly gain more space by clearing old install prefetch caches, and internet explorer caches (also reducing the size it will use in options).

Lots of things you can do to get space back.

yeah, i already did all those things. still, space keeps mysteriously dissapearing. is java important? it sure is big. what's it for? maybe i don't need it.

I wasn't able to start the upload at the moment I said it was going to take 4 hours. It does take four hours to upload, but that is from the time when I start the upload. All the time I have to wait is lost. Unfortunately my father wouldn't allow me to start earlier. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The file I am uploading is the one including Build 12.1 that can be installed on top of any PotC version. The smaller versions will be released later, but that might take a couple of days more. Perhaps even a week, because I don't have much time at all.

I know Pieter is releaseing build 13 today about which I am sure we are all very happy.

I am little sure what to do about the bugs I am finding in beat nine so I will re post the first here and add a third. 1. Went to the map at St martins and wound up immediately off the coast of Hipanola!

2. When going to the map after capturing three and sinking one.. CTD

The beach at Cayman Kai.

The beach at Cayman Kai is locked.

Good news Pieter - I'm looking forward to this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

@Morgan - have you taken into account you can just delete all the old build versions/betas etc for this? once those are of your pc it must make it possible for you - i mean all this release is is everything you've been running so far right?

ref java - its used in webpages alot! not sure exactly on the details - but if your really pressed for space i'd start with getting rid of things you knew what they did and could live without?

heres to the coming finest vintage of PotC released so far <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

if you mean removing the folders that contain the build after you download, in already removed those. also, i put all my games on my D-drive, so deinstalling something wouldn't help. and yes, i am really desperate for space now. i even removed paint and patience!

i just discovered that the space that keeps dissapearing are temporary internet files. they get removed eventually, so i'll just have to wait until they dissapear agian so i can install the build.

there you go! the space is back. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> i don't think it's enough to install the build though. there's 441MB free now, including the 200MB you need for running your computer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> it should be possible, but only just.

the newest update on: 'morgan terror's drive space adventures!' problem solved! managed to re-program links so the computer now reads everything from the D-drive, on which i placed several large files that used to be on the C-drive, creating plenty of space.

PRE Build 13? What's that??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

i don't know who said that (maybe me?), but i think that whoever that person was meant the beta version. and a hint: look at the topic title.

1. How did you get to St. Martin before that, by Stormy Start or by regular sailing?

3. Can't you get in or can't you get out? From/to sea or land?

Any error or compile log entries?

And don't forget ...
3. post b12 mod packs and numerous updates and small_upd
2. POTCMods and numerous update versions
1. and a win merged fix for Alan's Blacksmith /"Enter the darkness" fiasco that started it all.

How's that for a trip down memory lane?

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Actually, I didn't have WinMerge back then, so I had to do all merging WITHOUT WinMerge which was a major pain AND the cause for many, many bugs, including that blacksmith problem. So be glad I do have WinMerge now! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

And don't forget these: <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3260&hl=" target="_blank">my first post ever</a> and my <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4322&hl=" target="_blank">very first modifications to the game</a>.

ah, it wasn't really that obvious that you where joking, you know.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Anyway: What I meant with my joke was that we are now out of the PRE Build 13 era, so we can forget all about it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

i'm forced to use the build 12.1 for now. stupic cruddy computer! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

If you first remove PotC from your PC, then download and install Build 13, won't that work?

Do you use a 'clean-up' utility at all(other than the not so powerfull windows one)?

I use this:

<a href="http://www.ccleaner.com/" target="_blank">http://www.ccleaner.com/</a>

CCleaner - a tech bud showed it to me last year, and i've been happily using it ever since - its really great at clearing out old unused junk on your system - really great its free also <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

The problem would be would it remove more space than it might take up?!!(Version v1.34.407 (1,463KB)) you could try and if not then delete it after you ran it the one time(it WILL find some extra space for you - its good)?

EDIT: ok so i thought this still may be an issue for you - then i see you sorted it......still its a handy free utility anyway <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

what i THINK is happening, is that the computer checks if there is enough space AFTER the download. so i will need twice the space to be able to install it, so the computer thinks that there is enough space. with the space i have, i have enough to install the build, but not enough to solve the problem. the build 13 that is an add-on for build 12.1 is smaller, so i should be able to install that version.

by the way, when's it coming?
