Problem with gm viewer

Everything is fine with any objects (weapons etc.) - after selecting correct path for textures ....
With characters (nevermind from stock COAS or any mod) i have only grey shading with no textures ...
Any help highly apreciated...

I also tried Inez Diaz tool - same effect no textures (but this could be that ....it need russian exe to operate - as I dont have it installed i guided it to this one from CoAS 1.2.3HE - which I downloaded with hope to extract something to english version).

I have the same problem and so do several others. Nothing we can do about it. It seems it's some sort of Vista problem.
For the TOOL, it can only display TGA textures, so convert the TGA.TX files to TGA with the TX Converter first. Then it should work.

ok i found solution - it seems not Vista/XP oriented but propably with graphic cards - textures not working on Ati but running ok on systems with Nvidia.

..And my ATI did work at one point - long ago <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Sorry, not being very constructive here for a solution. Someone mentioned, it could have something to do with the version of .net (and the introduction of .net as a whole) but someone had .net 2.0 installed and it worked, but I dont know what .net does and is if it is possible, i'll try to roll back to a .net 2.0 version and see if it helps.

Maximus indeed mentioned it has to do with the .NET Framework version installed.
The one that comes with Vista by default is too new and doesn't work right. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I may get slapped for this, but you guys do know that you have to load the model directory on top and the texture directory separatly on the bottom.... right?

Indeed we do, Croaker. This issue has been something we've been dealing with for at least 2 or three years now.

Everything worked great up to a point, then suddenly brokee, no workee.

For some people and not others, I might add. But indeed it really is a problem and not people being stupid.
And it only occurs for characters, since ships/items/locations do work fine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Ah! Well I only mentioned it because I thougth I had that problem too.

Then I realized how the textures had to be loaded separatly. Now it works just fine for me. Although I do remember that the first time I ran it I had to click a little ~'process' square on the bottom to get it to work.

On a side note, anyone know what files I have to load to get the lighting to work? Also, how do I switch between rotate camera and fly camera?
