Problems with B14A9 Gameplay

Hi Guys

I've been following the Alpha build since Christmas and joined the forum today. I thought I'd help you out by posting a couple of bugs that I have found in my adventures with build 14 Alpha 9.

Number 1 - I can't berth any ships. When I access the ship berthing window I can see all of the islands at the top, which I can scroll through, but the menu thinks that they are all called "Dowesen" (the island name with two arrow heads either side of it in the centre of the screen). The "berth a ship here" button is greyed out regardless of which island is selected. This is with the exception of Hispanola - but when you berth a ship here you cannot relaunch it and the menu buttons of the preceeding berthing windows (choose which ship, which slot) over lap eachother - there is also no relaunch button.

Number 2 - I cannot capture forts - I tried capturing port au prince by destoying the port with my fleet - then I fought all of the frenchman and won, then I thought I'd be presented with some kind of "capture fort" window, but all I got was a black screen and more black screen, no CDT, just lots of black screen. Had to quit the game in the end.

Not sure if these are known issues. I had a clean install of POTC, then installed build 13 final, removed the relevant folders, then installed buld 14 alpha 9. No issues with install.

We are working on both issue. None of them are complete yet, I suggest you avoid them for the time been.

Love the work you guys are doing - I'm so glad that last November I re-installed POTC and thought "I wonder if there are any mods out there for this..."

I thought Hook had fixed the ship-berthing? Maybe I missed some fixes? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

We need to look into the Capture Colonies. Can you try one at Kralendijk? That one worked right for me last time I checked.
If that does still work for you too, then there's some sort of town-specific problem.
Then we'd probably need to try all towns and find the ones that do and don't work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Uh, I don't remember messing with ship berthing at all. I did some work on getting ship to ship transfer working. Ship berthing is one of those things that never worked for me so I never mess with it.

I haven't tried to speak with the harbor master but I had the same problem with the jail commander. replacing his dialog files with the ones from build 13 does seem to work.
 
I do think that would be useful. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Start with Kralendijk; that one did work for me, so it should work for you too.
And you can skip any of the AoP-style towns (Pointe a Pitre, Tortuga and Charlestown); I'm pretty sure those don't work.
 
I have encountered another problem regarding the Nathaniel Hawk quest.
I have come pretty far in the quest, but now I am stuck in Robert Sileharts bedroom with Danielle.
Silehart is supposed to run away out of the bedroom, but he isn't there and the door is locked, but I can return to my ship using fast travel. Is the quest changed, or is there something missing in the quest files? Another thing, why is Barbossa at the Lighthouse on Speightstown?

The first problem was mentioned before and needs to be looked into by one of our quest writers.
The second problem was caused by the old Jack Sparrow storyline inclusion and needs to be reset. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Because this is quite annoying, I'm shamelessly bumping the thread <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o)

As for the rest, the modding done with POTC is some of the best I've ever seen.
 
Is that using Patch 1? I had sort-of been hoping that my removal of the Jack Sparrow influences on the standars storyline would've solved that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
F12 is certainly not going to help. Reinitialize is F11. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
As I said to Schalkepirat before, I'm not sure if Patch 1 would require you to start a new game, but I definitly do recommend it; just to be sure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
If in a new game, the problem still persists, we have to look into it further. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
 
Sadly, whatever I do, Silehart won't show up. I knew my reputation was horrible but this is crazy;-)
F11 doesn't work (F12? How the hell did I come to that?) and neither does reloading or reinstalling.
 
And that IS with a new game started after the installation of Patch 1? I REALLY want to know how well the standard storyline works with Patch 1. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I have installed Patch2, but the same problem occurs. Nathaniel is stuck in Silehards bedroom with Danielle. All of my passengers are gone, but I still have my ships. I can fast travel to my ship. Tried to sail to Puerto Rico (Isla Muelle) and Bonaire (Douwesen) Pirate Fort, as in the original quest to see if I could continue my quest from there. But no luck. Hope you guys can help.

i have a problem with Mefisto quest, playing as Nathaniel Hawk.

after getting as far as father Bernard (a wharf rat send me to him, last quest update said i will need to buy his trust by doing something for him) he doesn't want to give me the task (as far as i understand it would have to be something about checking on some other priests on another british island). he just stands there and i get an option to talk to him about the task he entrusted me but since he never did and i have nothing to report it's a dead end with no dialogue options.

i tried to skip this step and went to the other island to see what was wrong with the priests but didn't manage to get any updates.

any help is appreciated!
