quest problem

Landlubber
hi guys i'm new to this forum and new to this game which is full of bugs!
Anyway my problem is that although i patched this game to 1.5 , used the gamecopyworld crack (i read in the forums that if u have that crack + supermod then its cool) and used the supermod - all versions.
The problem is that the game still crashes sometimes - not so frequently as before and the most important bug is this:
when i get a quest which tells me to escort a ship to another island when i get to that island and get off the ship i find no one in the town to give me my hard worked money nor my experience points but instead i still keep travelling with that ship and the quest is still active!!! It's as if i moored to another island but the right one, although i've checked a dozen times and i'm 1000% sure that for example when they say Montserrat i travel to Montserrat not somewhere else!
Has anybody run to this kind of stupid bug? Please help me i'm losing money this way cause i have to reject all those people who want an escort ship cause in the end they' re gonna end up being my own personal escort FOREVER!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
Sorry for the big post!I hope i can get some help <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

i almost forgot one important thing
The bug started right after i installed and updated the supermod so i guess the problem lies within the mod somewhere. For some unexplained reason the vanilla version was running smoothly regarding the quests

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />  Did you go to the Tavern and talk to the captain of the ship you're escorting?
.........the one with the green ! above him. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

I thought the captain of the ship would appear with a yellow ? above him. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> An exclamation mark is someone offering you a job, a question mark is someone for whom you have completed a job. (A grey question mark is someone for whom you have not completed a job, e.g. a trader whose cargo you have not delivered.)

And I've had the same problem on one occasion. This was with the Supermod installed strictly according to instructions (with all five updates in sequence, without any other patches). I'd taken an escort mission from a governor, got to the destination, went to the tavern, and found nobody with any sort of punctuation mark over his head. I tried staying overnight, went back to the main room of the tavern, still nobody there looking to pay up. I went away, came back, still no sign of the captain. I searched some other islands, still didn't find him. I found that I could replace him with one of my own officers so that he became a passenger, then detained and ransomed him, which should have dropped my reputation through the plug-hole but should have at least ended the quest; it did not.

And then I reloaded an earlier saved game from before I took that job. It doesn't always happen; I've been able to complete other escort missions, both private and for the governor. But I'm now in the habit of keeping saved games from the last two ports I visited plus one from just before entering the governor's residence, so that if I get a job which can't be completed, I can go back to a little while before I accepted it.

well thanks for your help nosie
you see in vanilla version as soon as i moored in a port i used to see the persons in front of me right away so thats why i got worried and i thought maybe supermod messed up some quests but thankfully not yet!!!(i hope never)

grey roger i also use the same strategy : save after save after save in order to complete every quest i get( i dont want to stick around with a passenger whose quest i've completed but -maybe he likes my company- he stays with me forever) but this time i moored at the port and he was nowhere to be found even the tavern but i slept and in the morning there he was in all his glory <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> sitting in a table in the tavern! This time it worked and i hope it will always work but can we be sure?

If someone comes to pay you right after you moor, that's a passenger, not a captain of an escorted ship. Captains always wait for you in the tavern (if they're anywhere <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />).

If you saw the captain in the morning but not at night, it may have been because the punctuation marks over people's heads are affected by daylight, or lack of it, even if you're indoors in a well-lit tavern. This means that at night, the question mark over a captain wanting to pay you (or the exclamation mark over a captain wanting to hire you) will be darker than by day, and may not show up well against the tavern walls.

(Incidentally, when one of your officers gains a level and wants a pay rise, he'll show up in your cabin with a blue punctuation mark. If you have fighters assigned, they'll be in your cabin whether they want pay rises or not. Which means, if it's night time and the punctuation marks are dark, it can be a little difficult finding out exactly who is asking for a pay rise!)
