Solved Question - Why was the CoAS Caribbean World Map never used for POTC New Horizons?

All,

Just a short historical question.

Why was the CoAS world map never used a the baseline for POTC New Horizons, as it was "more" accurate in terms of scale and size for the Build Mod rather than the created new modified map?

Was this a limitation due to the Storm engine or due required rescripting the questlines?

Did this interfere to direct sailing mode?

Or was it just the familiarity with the POTC code in iteself?

I have always wondered this as the CoAS map size is more substantial with more locations and towns.
It seems as though so much more could be squeezed out of POTC New Horizons even though the engine has become "retro".

That would have required us to also replace ALL the island models that we already had, which would be a huge, huge project.
Also, we'd have to fill the additional islands with interesting stuff, which is another huge project.
We just don't have the people for that anymore.

We did do the next best thing though:

The Beta 3 map that @Armada did keeps all the PotC islands, but moves them around to their correct location.
Additionally, it adds the Spanish Main along with the one town we had already added for quest purposes: Cartagena in Colombia.

Yeah, the main reason was that replacing all the location models would mess up all the quests, and that would be an unfeasible amount of work to fix.
At least we do have one mainland location now, and all the islands are in better positions, as Pieter said. :)
