ransom pirate captain?

I just dont have the time to scan the boards as much as i would like to being at work here <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
But where do you go and what do you do to get a ransom for a captured captain, pirate or otherwise?

Just go to passengers in the F2 menu option and click on the one you would like to ransome.

Why on shore? I try to ransom them as soon as possible, else i tend to forget <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> and they'll escape.

If you haven´t the Captains Challenge Mod installed you can ransom every prisoner everywhere. If you´ve got it installed but the "ransom on native soil" option disabled, you can ransom any captive in towns, if the option is enabled, you can ransom a prisoner only in a town of his nation. I like that, though I must admit, I wished for a third alternative after capturing a ship, which would be to release the captive, because for now, you can either kill the captive for experience and a hurt reputation, or drag him around.

You can simply set RANSOMLOCATION to "all" to `re-enable` the original version, and donate the ransom to a church or beggar. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

But yes, releasing is an excellent third option. I'll try and add a third button.
