regenerating captains

Just a slight question to Why Register: Did you even notice the posts by the moderators? You might want to take them seriously.
You can either stay here and be critical of the game in a fair way and try to contribute to mods being made to solve the wrongs.
Or you continue acting the way you do and it will end very soon. That last option doesn't strike me as being very useful. To you, I mean.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Can you read? I'm not complaining about difficulty, I'm complaining that the AI does not use the same set of rules that the player uses.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
...which I've told and shown you is an extremely common and time honored way of increasing difficulty, nevermind the fact that, as has been repeated several times, it <i>doesn't</i>. I really don't see the problem here, you don't want the AI to cheat, play on a level on which (it seems to you that) it doesn't. Is it really that difficult to grasp this?

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->The first thing I did when after loading this game up was move that all the way to the left. Didn't seem to make much difference on the easy settings. But maybe for people like you, gaining a level every 2 fights seems like really slow, man. Eh?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Maybe you should try moving it in the other direction? Granted, it could do with an actual description of which way you're supposed to move it to increase or decrease the rate. But then I never needed it, so meh.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I have no idea what that means. I've never had the least bit of difficulty with the ship to ship combat in this game, on any setting<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Right, you can defeat a battleship with a lugger. Suuuuuuuure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->This, from the person who thinks making level 5 in 3 hours is "slow"? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I don't remember saying anything even remotely like that, but since you bring that up, yeah, that does seem fairly slow. In most RPGs I've played the first half a dozen levels are really quick, often to the point where you don't even have to use healing potions early on because you get the next level up (which in many games instantly heals you) before your hp is depleted. Anyone with even the slightest bit of experience at RPGs would know that this is just a grace period to allow you to familiarize yourself with the game.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Or does your uber self spend all his time making trade runs and carrying passengers? I suppose leveling might be pretty slow, if you only make points on navigation and trade, eh?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Actually trade is one of the easiest and fastest ways to make a few levels quickly, due to the fact that buying and selling large quantities of expensive goods raises the skill very fast. I had 100 trade while my other skills still languished around 40.

That's mister "OMFG you're complaining that NIGHTMARE is DIFFICULT!!!", if you please. And yeah, I'm quite content to play on Captain. I've seen plenty of pricks mock people for playing on a lower difficulty than them, but you're the first that does so while complaining that the high difficulty is too difficult for you. It's really <strike>hilarious</strike> laughable. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Welcome to the forums, Nathaniel. Glad you have an understanding of what we've been trying to tell this fellow.

None of us are completely happy with the game. YET.

But at least some of us are actually trying to do something about it rather than pick fights with anyone that says 'Well, yeah... But I like this game ANYWAY.'

And WR, you are so close to banned dude that it isn't funny. Thats if I am not even too late in saying so and Thomas has already taken the choice out of my hands. **grins**

We just wanted to see exactly how you would respond and you have been an Ass from the get-go. NOBODY said anything untoward that should have set you off. You just exploded at the face(fingertips since its all text) and have continued to do so non-stop.

Cool, I'm giving him this one last chance to respond in a constructive and calm manner. Lets see what he does with it.

Aye, this gent definitely has the intelligence, its just the attitude that is a problem.

He seems like he could really contribute to the community if only he could work out his issues in a more constructive manner.

Cap'n Drow

Well it probably didn't help that I kept egging him on... but I couldn't help it! He's too much fun! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

...just the opposite, it´s way too boring... very predictable... you know the "What" long before, the only thing to ask is "When"?
Little trolleys or hateboys shouldn´t have the opportunity to get this level of attention.... the fast chop is the best and cleanest action. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

<b>BEST REGARDS</b>

Well I find it entertaining to watch them hop up and down. Very... therapeutic. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

LOL @ Sordid - Well that's definitely one way to view it. **grins**

Cap'n Drow

Yeah, well, don't go too hard on him, guys. The fault probably lies partly with me for feeding him.

wow after reading this thread i do believe the game has a competition for excitement already....the flames in the forum...nice <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

on topic now.well i did experience some of the frustrations with the duel against the fast regenerating guy. at captain level i could see how fast he regenerates with relation to how much damage i can deal to him.perhaps there could be some sort of glitch there or sumthing.but as why register have said he eventually killed that guy at admiral level so its not impossible right?then about the one shot captain of the lugger.i do believe there is a handicap when you board a ship with greater number of sailors and i mean a lot greater than you have as to the case of the lugger outside barbados.mysuggestion is for you to try to rush closer to him before he can shoot you and slash him so it can be interrupted. i know its gonna be difficult but as you can see before what seemed to be impossible is indeed doable with a lot of difficulty.

btw i love the game even with all the bugs.its the best pirate game i've played yet.and how long has it been released?probly there will be improvements and patches in the future that can fix the bugs

The reason that enemies will at times seem to be regenerating is because some of them are spawned with a pile of health potions in their inventory, and they will keep swilling the suckers until they run out or fall over dead, whichever happens first.

But they DO eventually run out.

Nope, no glitch. Healing potions.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->rush closer to him before he can shoot you and slash him so it can be interrupted.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Pistol shots can't be interrupted.
Which actually pisses me off a lot more than enemies drinking potions. I can survive one or two shots, but guys armed with four barrelled pistols are basically undefeatable in any other way than savescumming and hoping they won't pump you full of lead. It's basically the power attack, only it can't be interrupted or parried. Really, the AI shouldn't even <i>try</i> to use pistols while I'm carving its face, and being hit while trying to use a pistol should result in an automatic crit <i>and</i> dropping the pistol.

A couple days, and yeah, it's the best one yet.

oh so that's the reason why there comes a time when they stop regenerating...anyways how do you feint an attack? i can't seem to follow the instructions on the option menu.its the middle mouse button but all i can do with that is the strong attack or is it the feint attack already i just got confused?
