[REL] New ships and characters

That explains a lot :facepalm And I thought that was the game being unjustly hard on a new player. It's bad enough you get a war tartan as a starting ship, a row boat could probably beat you in a boarding action :ixi

Yep edit the RPG file and add some cash for your player but also you can start with a Tartan, War Tartan, Bermuda Sloop or Lugger. Its best to start with the Lugger but i think the Bermuda Sloop has a little more room in its cargo hold but don't quote me on that, however the Bermuda Sloop only has 8 cannons while the Lugger has 16 guns so you should keep restarting your game till you get the Lugger.

I seem to be having a clipping problem with the Interceptor model included in the COAS ships mod; in first person view on deck, I try to climb the aft ladder to the poop deck and instead find myself between decks hanging over the stern. In addition, the walk routine seems to be a little bit spotty around the middle of the deck in general. I wanted to bring this to your attention if it wasn't a previously known issue, or find out if I had a corrupted file in there somewhere. Anybody else having issues like this with any of the new models?
 
Roger I noticed the same issue. You can still get to the top of the poop, but only from the far left (that's the starboard side walking aft). Visually it looks fine, but when you move about you go into the wall and are partially in a Escher-like rear cabin until you walk up that one side. Only half the back deck is solid. Still - what a beautiful model and what a fun ship. V/R AS
 
Is that the latest version of the Interceptor from the Build mod?
I thought the Interceptor was one of the ships that DIDN'T have messed up walk patches.

I have noticed this with a few ships, i can't name them all but when trying get get between decks which have ladders you have to move the mouse from left to right while trying to go down/up the ladder, but also you have to have your field of vision in the same direction you wish to go ie vision pointing up while going up the ladder and down while trying to go down the ladder, the other thing i noticed which i can't point out all the ships but one is the Constitution, when you go to close to the side walls you can sometimes end up going into them rather than them acting like a abject stoping you from going any further as they should do. I will try to find a list of ships i have experienced problems with and note them all down here for you and what there general problems are, then you can look and see what you think yourself.

Soliel Royal

With masts


After a very unfortunate battle where all the masts was wipped out, i noticed then the rigging waqs still in place, a ship without masts is bad news when its uses a ship with invisable masts is just damn right unfair xD:.

Suprise

The ship is missing her picture in the shipyard.


This problem continues after you purchse the ship aswell.


In this picture, not easy to spot but i tried, anyway i can walk from one end of the ship to the other without a single cannon stopping me, in the picture above i'm standing where a cannon is i shouldn't be able to do that, this problem is on both sides of the ship, while the centre of the ship has the hatch for the cargo hold serounded by a rope fence which i can't walk through so some things do work, in my tests it was only the cannons that i could walk right through.

When sailing in 3D mode the waves are coming upo through the bottom of the ship as you can see.

Could someone give me a hint, how to change deck and mast textures for some ships?

Started with my first own texture works for a Soleil Royal, made some progress with the hull,
but i really wanna get rid of this red deck and the blue/white masts...

Changing the blue/white sail was no problem, but cant find a lead to the rest of the textures.
 
The Soleil Royal probably has some of her rigging modeled;
nothing you can really do about that remaining after the masts fall down.
The "walking through the walls" thing is because of a walk patch issue.
I wonder if maybe the walk patch is not supposed to be shaped like the deck,
but is supposed to be slightly smaller. At least you can actually walk ON THE DECK.
In PotC we have some ship models from another game and when you go to 1st person mode,
the camera ends up inside the ship! :shock

I just started the Peter Blood campain with the new model and i was very impressed.
But when i finished the escape from the slavery and wend to my ship´s cabbin, i just got back the old and ugly Peter Blood skin.
I´m sorry if this problem was reported before but i didn´t find it in the forum.
I hope somebody has the time and will to help me.

Get the "Cuirass" skill and equip an armor it will go back to the old model

Great mod i like the new Peter Blood.

I got 3 problems with the Characters mod...

1. One of the female pirates *not sure if it was Denice or Beatriz* doesn't seem to have a "Sitting" and "Drinking" animation for the tavern she just stands in the chair.

2. Been having some trouble with the random pirate quest where one of them invites you to loot "A" item from "B" nation in "C" place ... i get there with time to spare yet it doesn't seem to trigger the assault on them *mostly when one of the females asks me* "Also on a random note the log refers to the female as He". IF i do get the trigger *another female pirate* they say the things about them wishing they had some broads with them *either they are lesbians or the games refers to them yet again as a "He"*

3. If you start the game as Peter blood u automatically get Jeremy Pitt as an officer yet you can STILL run into him as a captain which is creepy
 
Here are two pictures i took a few minutes ago while sailing the Packet Brig in normal game speed, as you will see the water is in coming up through the base of the ship covering the front of the ship almost, perhaps the ship is sitting too low i don't know but anyway here you go.


 
Have a look in the ships_init.c file and see if there's a waterline code line that you can change.
I know PotC does have that and you can use it to make her sit higher in the water.

She's set at 0.3 so i will try 0.5 and increase till she is no longer having water come through like that. Thanks for your help Pieter.;)
 
Hey mates,

there is definitly something wrong with the Hamburg modell, my game crashes everytime it has to create that ship!

Does anyone know why??

Its called "Warship" in the code. The model was taken from the Wappen von Hamburg. Its the big Dutch looking ship with green upper gunwales and no heraldry/markings on the rear taffrail above the windows - Not to be confused with the Dutch Escort Ship. I have no issues with it and have had several of them simultaneously.

In that case i have had no problems either, i have been against many of the large warships, lineships and other huge ships. The only time i have had the game crash is normally when its been running for a few hours and i'm just about to board an enemy ship, very rarley has it crashed loading a battle or in a city.

All these improvements look great but I am afraid to touch them without having them further tested. Is CoAS going to have builds like PoTC? I dont know anything about programming but I can help play test.
