serious problem

Just managed to get Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales 1.5, but thing is, when i run the game i see that textures arent working very well...
see the attachment for details.
P.S. if i take Textures folder from any older AoP version, that might work?

got AoP version 1.5, but smth is not right with textures. i thought, it could be possible to fix it with copying Textures folder from any working AoP system folder?
i play on laptop, if some1 got same issue, let me know.
P.S. tried to make a topic already, seems that smth is wrong with ur forums DB.

How did you install the game? Looks like the textures are actually missing.
You sure you have a normal installation CD/file?
 
actually, i got already installed archive with all necessary files, just had to extract it. anyway, others say that everything is working fine with the same archive. i thought that maybe its cuz im a Vista user, but i doubt it, cuz changing compatibility settings its all the same.
maybe its cuz of im running integrated ATI mobility graphics on my laptop, but original, unpatched version worked just fine, so i dont think thats the problem too.

maybe some1 could make .zip archive containing Textures folder? i could just try to replace it. if that wont help ill have to download original version and do a step-by-step update to 1.5.
i wanted to try step-by-step updating original AoP, but couldnt find any working torrent with AoP (im lativan, latvians dont play pirate games that much, couldnt get it in latvian torrents and tepiratebay.org is very slow with my ISP).
 
So I understand correctly that it did work before with the unmodified game?
What do you mean by "unpatched" game? Why don't you install that then and install the official patch on top?
Should be available somewhere.
 
ill have the original version in few hours. ill install it n update, then ill let u jnow if its ATI mobility Radeon's fault, or just the game version was damaged.
unpatched = original, since im not latvian, i use to choose wrong words to say what i think :p
 
with word "patched" i meant version that is updated to 1.2 or 1.4 or whatever version, i guess i had to use "updated" instead of "patched" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

You should be able to find an official patch to install on top of your unpatched version.
 
just got 1.41 version. got 1.42 patch and 1.5 patch too. ill install em n update this post with the result.

EDIT:
1. i installed AoP full version 1.41
2. installed 1.42 patch
3. installed 1.50 patch
4. cracked with crack from gamecopyworld.com
5. entered the game n got the same textures as before.

if i try to play AoP with 1.41 version, my game crashes like twice in a min, so i cant play 1.41 too.

conclusion - now i think that only thing that might be guilty is my videocard. i guess that ppl using integrated ATI Mobility Radeon cards r doomed to play AoP with 1.50 patch :/
 
Sounds weird to me; I'd expect it to either work in any game version or not work in any game version.
Did you try the game between all the steps?
 
Yes i did. Both versions i tried is working for others. Have no idea why they dont work for me... Ofc, i could play with 1.41 or 1.42 but the game crashes all the time. To be honest, its pissing me off <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
 
Do I understand correctly that upon your step #2, it still works properly, but not anymore after applying patch 1.50?
I know there's a Supermod version available that has patch 1.50 included. Perhaps that works?

Damn, I guess, I'm seriously doomed - Supermod doesnt change anything <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

EDIT: well, this will sound pretty lame, but I managed to run AoP. What I did? I just decided to read Read Me.txt n I found that AoP doenst support DirectX 10. I just installed 9.0c, and everything seems fine now. Ill test what with the crashes, n I'll let u know.
 
Interesting. But the DirectX version didn't change between 1.42 and 1.50 though, did it???
 
I have no idea actually. All I know is that uninstalling dx10 and installing dx9.0c helped and I dont really care why and how <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
Of course there is possibility that smth is wrong with my videocard, cuz I cant play Star Wars: KotOR with dx10 too, while other ppl play it without a single problem.
 
Just found out that in spite of fact I'm playing 1.5 version, I still get ENGINE.exe crashes. Have any1 found a way to get rid of thos crashes? I would really appreaciate any help. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
 
Here we go: Install version 1.41 than 1.5 and No CD after that!!! Nothing else! No other patches!!!
Install version 1.41 than the Supermod, nothing else!!!
Install version 1.41 than Cap'n Drows translalation!!! Nothing else!!
These are the 3 choices you have and you can't mix 'em!! If you do you get that dreaded Engine crash!!!
All this you find in this forum somewhere, it only needs a little research!!
Cap'n drows translation is the best and most stable even so the Storyline is confused!
The supermod is very unstable during seabattles so saving is a must!!
Having said that, saving very often is a clever move in all 3 versions and links to download the stuff are in this here forum!!
Don't think the old forums don't give you any info! That game has been around for a long time! I've been playing it for that time
and still enjoying it! Cheers
Answer to Pieters comment about DirectX: I use WinXP directX9 and no problemo!!!
