So what's next?

Phyrex

Landlubber
I’ve been playing Pirates non stop the whole (yester)day and it was great for a long time but now it’s mega repetitive.

All scenes are the same. Sword fights are too easy. Dancing is annoying. I have all items already so the guy in the back of a tavern gives nothing but useless information... I have 100.000 gold and defeated pretty much all the other strong pirates.
I’m only like 24 years old with my sister rescued and the Uncle well under way.

What else can I do besides family quests??

I would also like to know:
- How can I raise the difficulty level during the game?
- How do I attack cities by land?
- Where can I find the Ship of the line? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks!

- If you have had a successful voyage, you will be given the option to go to the next level when you DIVIDE the PLUNDER.

- Once on land, simply walk towards the city, when you get close enough a `pop-up` window with options will appear.

- This has been discussed in great detail all over the place. Try reading this;

I hope the above is helpful to you. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks Joe.

But are there also any other things I can do? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />

Well, for some folks the repetativeness drove them away from the game completely. But for those of us who have a great time with the game (despite seeing Raymondo over and over), we just try to cahnge things up each time. Try playing at a harder difficulty level from the start. Starting out easy and working your way up is not as much of a challenge as you get your special items and crew at the easier levels, removing some of the challenge from the harder levels. Try things like playing without the aid of governments and never getting rank - use Pirate Havens etc... Try a dutch only trading game or something. Try to see how quickly you can make Duke at all 4 nationalities and skip the side quests. See how young you can retire as Governor.

The thing I find to be the most effective way to forget the repitition is to take a week off from the game. This game has great staying power but not the same kind of staying power that some of your larger games have. SMP's staying power comes from the fact that periodically, the game will call you back and you'll lose a whole weekend to it, play a career and put it away for a month or so. The great thing is that is WILL call you back and when it does, you WILL play an entire career and lose a whole weekend <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Go play as a pure Pirate, and sign up with no one. Watch what Wars are taking place. Work an area, then leave, and go to another area.
Sneak in and Attack the ships the Pirates are going to attack, and take the ship away from that Pirate leaving the Pirate to go back to his Pirates' Haven.

Use some depth of imagination, to play the game, and see how ye fare?

I am probably sure that you have not Attack a Big City, for about 20 years or so in the game, just because you wanted to sack it, every year for about 20 years.

The crazier you play it, the more bold you become, the more chances you will take with the game. Right now, I am not doing that yet, but I did sink two War Galleons that way `out-classed` me with 40 cannons, and 192 crew - with me Sloop and 12 cannons, and 65 about crew.
But then I am only on the Adventurer Level, and instead being able to get there to board those two ships, they sink instead. Of couse, no gold, but me crew was very happy about it, and cheering right along, when me cannons hit. They cheered even more, and sang, when the ships sunk!

No gold though, and I am looking for the gold!
Gold!

Play it crazy, that is the way it is meant to be played.
Everything is a cheat anyway in the game, if you know your way around with the map and the game.
That is why they all look the same - to a Pirate!
Nothing else to do during that time period, and being a fencing master, or a merchant, or a shipwright, or a bishop, or a Governor, is just not me. So, being without a job, like many were due to the economy during that time -- we all became pure Pirates, and fought - everyone, in the game -- in the end. What they promised, was not what we got -- we got - hard work on a sailing ship, with gruel to eat, and nary a gold coin for all our endeavors, and work.

I say we chucked it all, and went for all the gold ourselves. I did it my way!

And lived to tell the tales from the yesteryear days of Pirating!
