SoFS English Translation

Well here you have it folks. The announcement I've been sitting on these many weeks now.

I've got most of the English translation done now for the menus, items and other things. Have to finish up all the dialogs still. I'd say there is at least another 3 to 4 weeks of work doing this on my own.

As soon as I have the translation completed, I'll let everyone know.

Here is the link to the current revision of the mod--> <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/build/sofs/AoP_SoFS_1.0.0305_ENG.rar" target="_blank">SoFS 1.0.0305 English</a>

Installation order is as follows:

1) Install AoP English Stock
2) Install SoFS 1.0.0406
3) Extract the english translation to your game directory, overwriting everything
4) Play

To reiterate, this translation is NOT complete yet. You will have translated menus, windows and items. Only a few of the dialogs are translated and to the best of my knowledge NONE of them are part of the main storyline. Basically the english translation can be considered English Alpha 0.01

Any questions or comments I will do my best to answer or reply to.

Here she is, an update to the SoFS English language translation.

Updated in the 1.0b release was the DeLour dialog and added the switches to turn on crew on deck. (The 1.0b Update is currently missing, could some kind soul please post a link or send a copy of my original compressed file for this version of the mod? thanks! Cap'n Drow)

Updated in the 1.0a release were the Guadelupe Sailor dialogue and the Will Turner dialogue. Both quests should now work correctly.

To get the most from this mod, you'll need a few things that I've uploaded to the FTP and or this thread.

First you will need a clean UNPATCHED copy of AoP installed.

Next you will need a copy of the SoFS Mod version 0.8.0225, you can download it directly from the BGTeam site at the following address <a href="http://tdm.bestgamer.ru/en/files/k3_addon_tdm_ver_080225_full.7z" target="_blank">BGTeam's Download Page</a> or (directly from our main FTP in the Captain_Drow/SoFS_RUS directory)<-Uploaded to my personal directory on the FTP

Finally you'll you want to decompress the English Translation file which you will find attached below to your Secrets of Far Seas directory.

sorry to bug you Cap'n Drow, but the dialogue of a man by the name "DeLour" is missing completely, just like that of Will Turner's, and wondered if there was a way this could be fixed?
 
**This fix has been added to the archive file as of update 1.0b** Here is an updated version of the file. Just copy this file to /**Install Dir**/Programs/Dialogs/English and let me know if this fixes the problem.

I just start to play SoFS (with Sof_0.8_Eng_trans_WIP1.2), and the begin let me well hope, I just arrive in La Vega without any bug!!!

Today I try to add the fixs found here and I must refers two little bugs:
Most of NPG have no voice;
Option menu have some problem with title fonts.

Just a suggestion:
I like see sailor when I swith on deck, its realy simply to add, just edit:
/**Install Dir**/Programs/sea_ai/AIcameras.c

And change
Sailors.IsOnDeck = 1 to Sailors.IsOnDeck = 0
(there is just one entry)

Maybe, if you want, you could add this in your next fix.

Okay, thanks for bringing those up, giulootto. The voices are probably due to problems introduced by the translation software, so I'll have a look and see what I need to do. The real problem there is that the majority of the audio files I have are in russian anyhow. So it will currently wind up a mish-mash of english and russian once I get the current problems with the audio files corrected. To really get a good work up I need scripting of what is said by the voice actors in each of the audio files, then have to find live bodies willing to help me record new english language dialog. Not what you could call a small undertaking in the least. First thing would be to find someone who either knows exactly what is said in each file, or someone that speaks russian to listen to each file and give a fairly solid english translation.

On top of that for each language we want to add to our translation sets means all new text files and audio files.

Next is the error on the option screen. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o) I do know about it, but thus far haven't had time to go into the menu .ini files and figure out which line of code got messed up.

And the Crew on deck. Well, there are actually 3 lines in SoFS's version, but I've made the change so now we should be able to see the crew on deck even when we are.

Finally all of this has been repacked in a new .rar file which I have added to the first post in the thread as version 1.0b

Give her a go around an let me know if everything else seems to be working okay.

What is the priests name, I'll have a look at his dialog.

Downloaded the update you did to DeLour and I'll take a look at it tonight or tomorrow.

I'll have to experiment with the sailors on deck settings, as I said there are 3 in the file and all of them were set to 0. So we'll have to play with things to get it all running.

I use winRar myself Fred Bob. 3.61 is the version I have I do believe. Works wonderfully.

Well, Return of the Legend has been AoP based all along.

In russia, the series has always been known as Seadogs/Corsairs. Yes, Age of Pirates was Seadogs III in russia.

City of Abandoned ships is still part of the Corsairs III Line of games.

Seadogs/Corsairs IV is being developed by Seaward.ru using the Oblivion engine is what I've been able to find out.
