Some build questions

Hathi

Landlubber
1. Wich spyglasses are there in build 12?

2. What is the fastest ship in build 12?

3. what does donating money to ur crew do?

4. Is there a way to get ur `non-officer` crew to have better swords or even guns?

1. Same as before.
2. Check Ships_init.c; I believe it's JMV's American Fast Schooner, Pirate version. But since ship stats are randomized, it's kinda luck of the draw. The _absolute_ maximum speed of a ship is 1.1 (pirate national mult) x 1.03 (max random variance) x (the base speedrate of the fastest ship in ships_init.c)
But good luck finding one with random variation at the max possible (1.03)!

3. It takes gold from your Wealth and puts it in the party's Money account (so if you need to repair your ship and you're out of Money, you can donate some of your personal wealth until you have enough Money).
4. CCC's added such a mod, and it's in Pieter Boelen's `post-build`-12 modpack. There is no way in stock B12.1.

ehm, could u reanswer question 2? :S I'm not a modder so I don't fully understand what u meen. :S

And the spy glasses have different looks? Since I haven't seen the shell like spyglass (can'r remember what it's called :S)

Hathi, there's a Master Spyglass, which looks golden, and has many sections (looks like a golden step pyramid with a eyepiece at the pointed end). That's the best spyglass. The cheap scratched one is the lowest, then there's the better but still cheap one you buy during the tutorial. After your sailing level gets high enough, you should be able to find a FINE spyglass, which has a black finish... Then the Master Spyglass.

The ships speeds are randomly generated so there's no real way to tell what's the fastest... The Schooner2 has the fastest base speedrate from ships_init.c, closely followed by the Xebec CT.

Thanks, where to find this master spyglass, cause i found the fine one allready :p

And what would be the speed in game (basespeed)? My ship "El Muerte Negro" is a fast schooner (dutch) with speed 18.7 I believe, what would be the fastest possible?

You´ll come across it sooner or later, a merchant might sell it or you find it in some chest. Strange enough, I always found a Masterpiece Spyglass long before Merchants offered me a fine one - though I like the look of the fine one better.

Yes, but the Master Spyglass will give you the most information. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

The speeds on ships are variable, but I believe there are several schooners that come in with the top speeds before the variables are added in. Can't recall which, at the moment... It's in Ships_init.c <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Search for "speedrate".
Find the highest number given to the right of it.
Then look above that until you see what the name of the ship model is (frigate2, frigate3_44, etc.)

It's 17,3 for fast schooner, but how can my ship be faster then that? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The number in the shipsinit is a sort of average. They get modified by the nation multipliers (at the top of shipsinit) and they vary within a certain range which represents the fact that each ship is uniquely built, so, really no two ships are exactly alike.
