What game are you playing? That compass is in both GOF2 and GOF2.5 Supermod.
To get it go into your COAS-->main menu-->options. Then go into "mod options" and scroll down to realistic compass. Toggle that until you get it.

Check the GoF RESOURCE\Textures\BATTLE_INTERFACE folder. It is probably in there somewhere.
Use http://piratesahoy.net/build/tools/Modeling+Texturing/TX Convertor.zip to view those files.
