Sparrow Sought - 13 Final & 13 Full + Update 3

the build, i think. best way to avoid it is to play the main quest first and then the missing children quest, or the other way round.

Well, while waiting for a new test instance to appear I decided to take another run through on 3 Final. I ran into a bug that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere in here yet. Went to do the Admiral's son quest, which I have always skipped previously, and after talking to the barkeep in Redmond, no daughter and soldiers appear outside of town. I hadn't started the main quest at all at this point. Is this something others have run into before, or am I missing something here? Decided to start through the main quest to see if she magically appears, but so far no dice. I haven't visited the tavern yet to meet Danielle for the first time, so Oxbay is still French at the moment. I recall that caused issues with some quests, but I don't find any connections to this one. Suggestions?

Aha, not a bug then. Thanks for the clue, Morgan. I'll have to go back and read the dialog again to see if there was something I missed. Didn't find any mention of it in the quest guides. I'll try it when I get home.

it works allright. the guy in the tavern says she always goes for a walk in the morning. that's your clue.

Good tip, it worked. Thanks for that! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> ... but now I've run into an actual bug. Continuing with that quest, I stopped in Oxbay and had a chat with the shipwright about that chest, and then snuck into FdF to look into that and meet up with the kidnappers. The first time through, I spoke with the old man about the chest, then went out the exit and got transported to the tavern as usual, but the dialog for the kidnappers started on entrance, and I'm guessing that since both are triggered by the same thing- ie. entering the tavern, they are conflicting. So no kidnappers present, didn't get the dialog regarding the Pearl, and got locked in the tavern and unable to exit. Ok, go back to the save before I landed, and this time go to the tavern before seeing the old man. No dice. I get the dialog, but no kidnappers and cannot exit. I tried spending the night to see if anything would reset, but was then locked in the bedroom instead. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> Any guesses?

ah, i see. i'm not sure if that can be fixed. do you have an even earlier save? otherwise i fear you're stuck in the main quest at the moment.

note: i've had a situation like this myself, but that one worked out well. trying to follow two conversations at the same time was a bit confusing though.

I have an earlier save from right after I accepted the Admiral's Son quest. The only one before that is right at the start of the game. I will probably just start over, but since we are bug hunting here, it might be a good idea to put some checks in place to prevent two quest dialogs from initiating at the same time. Just a thought.

well, it's always been considered a bad idea to do multiple quests at the same time in the same location. of course, i never actually listened to this, except for one instance:

do NOT talk to the ladies in front of the douwesen mansion before you've finished the main quest. you should do either the main quest first, or the one you get from the ladies. not both at the same time.

completely fixing the problem would be near impossible. their are so incredibly many possibilities that it can happen that it's nearly impossible to block them all. i think a quest dialogue priority check would be required.

how goes it everyone? .... i was just wondering of the progress or this thread. is there any real difference between them bug wise or is just running the final the same as the full with the update?

I don't think there's been any recent progress. At all. The people who were working on this seem to have disappeared. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

It seems most people lost interest in mid-winter. Last post here was in february. I'm actually hoping to get some people back in the summer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Been playing again recently, but I haven't found anything new for bugs. I thought we were getting a test instance with some fixes in it to try out back in January, but the best laid plans of mice and men... So what do we need to do to get this effort restarted? Are there any Alpha features to add in on top of 13 Final and test, or should we be focusing our efforts on Alpha 14?

We had just been discussing making an Update 4 for Build 13. However, my holiday is over, which means I won't be able to make one any time soon.

Well, I will continue to report bugs I find here and maybe something good will come of it. I think I have seen this one posted someplace before, but a quick search didn't turn it up. I switched to divide the plunder to up my personal wealth and my notoriety. I found that even with a small ship and crew it was a constant grind to keep bringing in enough to keep the crew happy when dividing. So I switched back to salaries. I've been going a few months game time and have yet had to pay a salary. Now being a greedy pirate, that is very conveniant, but I don't think it is right. Anyone else run into this?

No salary at all? Wha??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

That is correct, and confirmed. I hadn't started the original storyline when I posted that last, now I've completed the original plot and not paid a salary since reverting back from dividing the plunder.

Extremely crazy. Can anybody confirm that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

How greedy were you with your officers, bassman7? It only took me a couple of hours to make a 10 skill in commerce and then hire some officers in the original game for -60000 each - never paid a single dime <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
