Strange problem.

I'm afraid those logs don't clarify the errors really. We've had these crashes for weeks now and I still haven't been able to figure out why. I have given up trying to fix them quickly, so I am now going to do it slowly and structured. See the <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=5586&view=findpost&p=145166" target="_blank">Post Build 12 Mods</a> thread. If you want to help out testing, install the March 5 version, then install the first of the temporary updates on top and figure out if the CTDs are or are not in that version. Maybe you would want to play the March 5 version for a while though; that one seems stable, unlike later versions.

Once we've figured out where the bug is, I should be able to fix it, after which I can finally release the new update that I have had waiting on my HD for several weeks now, including some more bugfixes and a few improved features.
 
Okie Dokie......just reinstalled the Build12, post build 12, and Mar5 update over my mess here....hope that works before a completely wipe and reinstall.....talk at you soon, and thaanks a lot
 
If you install Build 12 + Post Build 12 + March 5 update, that should overwrite about all the modified files, so I reckon that should work fine. Depends a bit on whether you installed the 18 or 25 March updates. If you did install these previously, some weird things might happen, but I'm not sure. Ok, problem. I can connect to the ftp no problem. When it tries to load the file directory, it times out. Then it asks me if I want to try and connect via passive mode. Still can't load the files. What's wrong?
 
Ahoy thar Commodore......in the thread about "Fire" in the Modding part of the forum, Pieter posted his program FTP Commander, I just used it tew go tew the FTP site and it works great.....might I suggest yew'm find that link and grab it form Pieter, works like a top....free tew, my favorite feature....cheers
 
Got the ftp commander. When I connect to pirates ahoy, it just sits there saying "Connecting to pirates ahoy" and does nothing. What's wrong?
 
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Commodore Jones. I just checked the FTP and it is working correctly. Did you double click on the Pirates Ahoy in the FTP Servers box on the right? If so everything on the PA FTP will come up in this box, unless the FTP was down for a bit. Hope this helps.
 
Did it ever work for you? If it did, have you recently changed anything with your internet connection settings or your firewall or did you install a new Windows update? These three things might cause trouble when connecting. Make sure FTP Commander is allowed to connect to the internet and make sure the port it uses can actually be used.
 
Ok, my firewall has been turned off for a while. I don't think it's a problem with security settings, I was able to use the Core ftp Lite program and get the files, now I can't. I can't pinpoint the problem. Mabey if someone could e-mail me files... or find the solution to the ftp issue.
Mabey you could put some files onto your page, Pieter? What I need is the flagpack (with the red ensign, tricolour, and star spangled banner.), JMV military skins pack, and any military ships.
These would be:
Frigate USS
Sloop-of-War
Any Royal Navy vessel
Any French vessel
 
I could send you some files if you like. I will eventually add it all to my site as well, but I'm too busy with fixing PotC mods (and doing schoolstuff <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> ) to update my site. Once I released a proper modpack update again, I can update my site for a bit again. Plus I only want to add them to my site when they actually work together with the Post Build 12 mods, which most files don't do yet. Also: I don't know exactly what is and isn't on the FTP myself either, so somebody would have to tell what files I should send to you... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

i bought the game and downloaded it it worked fine. but then my friend f**ked it somehow and the game threw me out. i reinstalled it and now if i wat to open configure control it says ENGINE.INI or OPTIONS file missing!!!


what should i do please help me!!

I had a similar problem on a different game and had to uninstall ,then manualy delete remaining files and then reinstall .That should fix it , unless somone has an easier method.
 
I just sent him the missing files, after which the game did run. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
