Tag Along French Officer Clair Larousse Quest

I talked with a french officer in one of the taverns and agreed to join him with a get rich quick scheme. Then no other information is presented. Upon putting to Sea there is always another Brig in company.

I thought I had read somewhere that if you went out into the jungle with this guy then you could complete the quest and he would go away. I have tried that tactic on each of the islands but nothing ever happens.

As it is, his ship is taking up a slot which could be filled with a captured ship.
Any Ideas.

Sorry to be so vauge I do not have Internet access at home and I do not get time to join the forum every day.

Nothing happened when you sailed by Oxbay? My recollection is that when you sail towards Oxbay, you get "warped" to the Oxbay Mines, and the quest proceeds from there.

As far as ideas go, if the warping doesn't kick in, a large enemy fleet can dispose of the problem for you. I would say utilise the "fireship", but in other discussions I've learned that Claire tends to shy away from distinguishing himself in this manner. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

Ahoy Matey,

Sail by Oxbay several times nothing happened. Tonight if I get a chance I will stop by the Oxbay mines for a look see. I have noticed Claire tends to shy away from any fighting. I have had to save his bacon several times, resulting in serious damage to my other to ships.

Sorry for diggin' up this old thread, but i really need help with this one.

i get as far as to the mines, where a small fight take place and after that Claire tells me that we can chase after the convoy.

my question is: how do i find this convoy? is it a ship or an inland convoy?

i'm puzzled

This convoy is an inland convoy, but, if memory serves, you have to get back onto your boat (ship) and sail to Oxbay, and then after you go thru Oxbay and head past the Oxbay gate area, heading towards Greenford, you obtain the money and then have to decide whether or not you are willing to share your ill gotten gains with old Clairol.

It has been awhile since I did this one, but my recollection is that the gate going into Greenford is locked so you can't go that way. Hope this helps!

I got so sick of Clair after having him follow me for about a month (real life time; I'd long since forgotten where he'd told me to go) that once I pulled into Oxbay, I slaughtered him TWICE. Apparently the game didn't think you would first kill him outside the mines, because when I returned to my ship, he was commanding his ship! I boarded and captured him, and then ransomed him for a small amount of cash. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

Ahoy,

Just started a new game last night and stumbled into this quest. If you talk to one of the people standing on the dock in Isla Muella you will hear about Clair putting together an expidition.
