For compile.log or system.log to appear, you first have to enable error logging:
- Open "engine.ini" in your main game folder.
- Find the "debuginfo = 0" line and change it to "debuginfo = 1".
- Start the game and wait until the error occurs.
- Now find compile.log, system.log and the possible error.log in your main game folder.
- Post their contents here

Ahoy thar, did ye read dis here thread, matey, on Windows 7 problems? :p2

http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?/topic/13699-unofficial-fix-for-windows-7/page__view__findpost__p__328248

There be a problem wid de Tages drivers in Winders 7 dat be preventin' CoAS from startin'! :onya

Hey,

I have the same problem... But the external link from Fred Bob, doesn't work propperly I think.
I need some help with this please...

In this exact same sub-forum there is a forum titled "Unoffical fix for Windows 7!" that is where the link lead

Hmm... I downloaded the tages for the driver. But it still doesn't start. I think this is all really weird, because i could play the game before...
I get this error report:

Microsoft Visual C++ Rumtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: D:\Games\Age of Pirates 2\Start.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applicatrion's support team for more information.

Maybe it is of use.....

So your game did run and then stopped all of a sudden :facepalm

Ok I think you may need a reinstall Im afraid :shrug

I found out what was wrong with my game. I Reinstalled like you said, and then I wanted to install the Mod Pack version 2 vanilla... with GME (first time, when it crashed i did it without.)
And right after I did that it started giving me the same error. So I used GME to turn the mod back off, and then it worked again.

I would like to have the mod installed because of the bug fixes and all that. Can somebody explain me what I'm doing wrong?

Your installing the original game in PROGRAM FILES arent you?

Install it out of them for example C:/My Games to avoid the PROGRAM FILES security

EDIT: Actually it appears you didnt install in in PROGRAM FILES :facepalm

EDIT: nope that didn't work either.... It won't let me start it from the original start.exe either....

I have a similar CTD on startup. Though, I get it after the intro movies are finished, and the loading screen has appeared (might be relevant, the spinning skull doesn't appear).

Attached screenshot of the error and dxdiag.

Edit:

(I disabled the Nero codecs already, I have problems with them sometimes.)
