You have a point, but if you only pick at akella, why are you around this forum ravenheart? The most pirate games are from akella. Doesn `t matter though.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
What would you think of a company that spends an extra 10 months polishing their product and in the end you find out that all they ware doing is voice-overs and translating text? Akella blowed me away with SeaDogs, PotC was good and bad, but bad due to Bethesda and Disney. I did expect things to be a little bugy(like pretty much every russian game with a few exeptions) in AOP but not to this level + SF (you can probably say PlayLogic told them to use it, but Corsairs3 is only for russia and akella decide).

From what i've read in Q&A with Akella, Storm Engine uses shader model 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.

PS. Can a serious company have their beta builds all over torrent sites.

they might have said that, but the game does have a small scoop of HDR lighting, wich is SM 3.0 powered.

The question was if sharing that tools is possible? If not, what's the name of that program? Releasing it for community would dramatically help all of us improve both PotC and AoP - that's why acquiring staight answer is very important. The more people working to improve game means more and better improvement.

Don't you get it? Cyberobs does not want to share! And I can't blame him!
Those 'nice' fellas at Akella like to put their dirty little Hands on it without
paying for it!!! WE just have to wait for the new updates by Cyberops, Hopefully
there is not too much time spend with the family and lots on rewriting code!

Well im not buying games from them anymore, it's to cry. Like i said in the other thread it's easier to make a completely new game then fix all the bugs that are in this darn game. Im glad my Flight Simulator X game will be in tomorrow so i can relax with that and take my mind of things because it's a big pain in the behind this AOP - Caribean Bugs game.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

About that new Msflightsim , well the only thing i can say about it is that is some kind of slideshow game, runs at 3fps.

Same as akella they just add more and more code without any sense, making the simulator much slower.

I have flight sim 2004 , has the same graphics and runs smoother, with ATC addons is the same as Flightsim X.

Its a shame since my 2 favorite games is PoTC and flightsim 2004, their newer versions are not good <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Flight Simulator X is fine, better in most ways than FS9.

but FSX is intended to run slow on todays system, the hardware that can max out FSX compleatly havent been made yet. microsoft make it so intense, so that it will last for as long as it does, and still have state of the arts graphics 3-4 years later. so really, its quite different from AoP.
Just like the technology to max out FS2004/FS9 when it came out, was not avaible.

In AoP they are just adding code.
But FSX has gone trough considerable revisions of the code.

Hello there Mates, questions for ya?

Talking about Too Many Problems, I was looking into the Dialogs and Language for some of the lines and stories for AOP....thinkng of cleaning it up, or just trying to make more sence out of it.

There is an awful lot of references to the "Hovernor" in the scripts.....I assume they meant Governor, especially where they apply for the lines....But if I changed one to read "Governor", it would have to be changed in all places in the game would it not??

And secondly! what is this "<b>ïðåäëàãàåò âñòðåòèòüñÿ çà ãîðîäîì â åãî äîìå</b>" is this Russian?? certainly doesnt look like it...but there is an awful lot of it in all Akella games. If it is or something similiar, can it be translated? Should it be translated?

EDIT: well it is Russian..wow!

That is just plain sad. Code from three different games, all years apart from each other. Sea Dogs is ancient history; can't believe there is code from there in the game! I begin to get the impression that Akella doesn't give a damn about fans of their games. "I know, lets take the code from all our previous games and mix it together, slap it in a box and sell it to the dumb a$$ westerners; they'll buy anything."
I wonder if the games they make for Russian only consumption are that way? This is definitely eye-opening..
I was looking forward to Captain Blood, Swashbucklers, and Knights of the Sea, but I'm thinking they'll be every bit as unfinished and bug-ridden as AoP.
If I get them at all it'll be after they've been in the bargain bin for a good long while... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsdown.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2dn" border="0" alt="thumbsdown.gif" />
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I understand russian very well and I followed the development of AoP for 3 years, so there is what I know about all this (I wrote this in Playlogic forum; this is copy & paste from there):
As a matter of fact this game was the "orphan" of Akella. It was the leftovers from POTC which was hastily reworked to comply with Disney requirements. There was no serious work done on it. End on top of it there came the mistake of implementing the newly modernized engine in an existing old game. This caused the CTDs. Meanwhile the game was left laying on the shelves for 3 years. After that someone decided after the game has no story at all it will be easy to launch it as it is and to patch the "few potential bugs" lately. So the game was hastily packed and sent to russian market for X-mas 2005 as version 0.99. But it appeared even no-story games can have tons of bugs, not to mention the CTDs due to the lamers implementation of the new engine in an old game. So they started to release a patch after patch using the russian buyers as beta-testers. And those russian buyers payed $30 for this pre-alpha version and $30 is a serious money in Russia.

So, the Russian gamers got screwed over even worse than everyone else! Akella should be ashamed to foist such a steaming pile of sh1t upon its fans; they have no shame whatever.. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" /> What they should have done to make amends to everyone for selling out to Disney with PotC, would have been to actually make Sea Dogs 2, and really put some QA effort into it. The fans would've jumped all over it; I know I would've.
What becomes apparent to me is that Akella cares nothing about the people who buy their products, either at home or overseas. And being virtually the only makers of nautical games, they know that fans of such games will buy their products regardless.
Well, I will be watching the forums and reviews very closely for any upcoming games of theirs, and if it's negative I'll not be getting them, except maybe from the $5 bargain bin some day... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dp_nogd.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ng" border="0" alt="dp_nogd.gif" />

Yuo are ABSOLUTELY wrong. Every game which has some value in it get leaked. As for was AoP beta or not - it is not. It is released as 1.42 and is not mean to be beta at all.

Leaked final versions of a game a few days(maybe a week) before official release is not what we are talking about here.
