Turn off the annoying beeping!

Hi All,

Ok, I've found a way to disable that annoying beeping!

Open a windows command prompt and type:
net stop beep

That will disable the beeping (until you restart your computer.)

To turn it off permanently, also enter the command:
sc config beep start = disabled (Edited as per Darth Tuvok's comment! )

to stop the Beep Service starting next time you run the computer.

I expect you will need admin rights on the PC to do this.

I haven't tested this much, so get back to me with how it works for you.

Of course this doesn't fix the underlying problem with the ship models that causes the beeps, but until they're fixed, it makes the game less aggravating.

Nice find but actually beeping means that something is wrong/damaged/corresponding for example if your mainboard is having a wrong cable linked, it will beep also... So i think it is not a solution to just hide the beeping but to actually fix it.... still nice find which i gonna try out...

just tried it out it works but the way you typed it in here is wrong.
It is:
sc config beep start = disabled

As I said, it doesn't fix the underlying problem, but it's better than nothing.

Also, what's different with that sc config command compared to mine?
Edit: ah. the missing space before the equals

you need to add the space between the start and = or otherwise there will be an error comming from cmd... you might wanna change it in your post above ;)
