Hello all.

Just desided to model some weapons for this mod. I don't know how fast I'll finish them or will I release them, but target of this idea is:
  1. Do more detailed and/or historically acurate versions (replacements) for vanilla weapons.
  2. Make some order in models/ammo and textures/ammo foldiers
  3. Make completely custom models based on real antique weapons of that time period.
  4. over all quality improovements.

For example: Here is my version of pistol1.gm. I found this weapon mentioned as: "18th century Liege Flintlock Pistol". (441 polys vs. 976).

Agreed, what an excellent Idea! :onya I think that weapons are often overlooked by modelers (myself included) and the stock models certainaly have room for improvement. If you want suggestions for some historical weopons, I migt be able to find a few ;)

alright, so I found a website or two that might help, and I picked out some that I thought would be interesting to see or are similar to ones ingame
first, a few royal navy swords

then, this page, which has a huge selection of weopns, not all of them are the right time period for the game, but many of them are.

anyways, thats all i could find for now, hopefully some of them could work! :doff

I think we could use some later pistols, long guns, swords, and boarding axes as well, to match the later ships and characters(all the way up to the Napoleonic era). I would feel slightly silly playing as Captain Aubrey on the Surprise and carrying a matchlock. (Not that I have anything against matchlocks)

You know.... I know a couple of us actively play Mount and Blade and have even modded for them as well. We should talk to the modders from over there about using some of their weapons. Knights the Last Battle has a bunch of really great Matchlock and Wheellock pistols, carbines, and long guns. Some of those weapons made it over into Fire & Sword which is set in Eastern Europe during the 30 Years War timeframe. They also have some really beautiful sabres and swept hilt swords/rapiers as well. I will make an inquiry to one of the guys I know. I personally am very partial to Wheellock, Doglock/Snaphaunce weapons. They are so graceful and beautiful. If we had one in game I would use it all the time. I love the Double Barrelled Dutch Wheellock pistol in M&B with Fire & Sword...anyone play with that one? ITS FREAKIN AWESOME!

Hey guys... I have an Idea...

I'm not the hystorical dude... so I'm asking for help in this place...

Can someone make me a table of weapons per period...

Target: To have ~5-10 weapons per period of every type (not counting unique ones).

I'll do the table at first post of this topic. And do the folowing:
  • With some help of other modelers, I'll do the weapons my self.
  • Manage and test-compile models, donated by other modelers (from mount and blade for egsample)
  • Re-do or re-make egsisting weapons to fit that table

If someone agree... Then PM me... I'll respond and we'll go further with this idea. I need some weapon-loving people for me to assist me in data/picture/names research.

If someone will help me start this thing, I'll count this idea as period-weapons project. I won't be able to do all alone...

EDIT: Yes... It is beautifull

Oh WOW, That IS beautiful Super-D,

I just happen to still be in recovery (on convalescent leave) and so have lots of time and full access to my weapons books. I'm in - and will assist. I will start putting a list together to help this week.

OK. What I need is:
Weapon picture, name, date (or atleast a period), Nation and description.

Weapon picture — any picture as reference to that weapon, So I could google it later for more, and would be sure to be found good pictures.
Weapon name — Obvious, I gues.
Weapon date — The date of the weapon were used... Or atleast time period... I mean in-game time period...
Weapon nation — The nation it was mostly used.
Weapon description — Something in-game fitting, so I could copy-paste that to in-game
