Whats MM?

Officerpuppy

Buccaneer
Storm Modder
Pirate Legend
In the new build, besides a few new ships, some old ships have MM at the end of the name, what does that mean? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

Thad would be initials fer de modder who wrote de code mate,MM is fer Muddy Monkey <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Yep, and CT means CatalinaThePirate (cough!)... BR after the Xebec means Barbarossa, but it was made by Duke Suraknar.

Muddy put the "weathered skins" done by Rafe Bligh into PotC. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

That's funny... I always thought that MM meant "Merchant Marine", which I found odd seeing as how the MM ships too often looked fiercer and carried heavier guns... hehe... and seeing as the Xebec is one of the game's faster ships - I had assumed that BR meant something like "Blockade Runner".

I took a special liking in the square- rigged Schoner with that unpronouncable Russian name, that´s one fine addition, not only a renamed and `stats-modified` existing one. I wonder if it was possible to give the Lugger a rigging like the Xebec, that would be the old- fashioned Pinnace to the spot.

Sure. Use the lateen from the tartane for mizzen, and the fore and mizzen from the xebec as main and foremast respectively for the `new-lugger`.
Or only use two masts on the lugger...

The Shnyava is actually Swedish, IIRC, or at least Scandinavian, and was made by the A&M crew (it's the one with both a mainmast and a short little thing right aft of the mainmast for the spanker--weird rig.); the brig on the schooner hull is JMV's patchwork. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I think the Lugger just has two mast locators, which would be fine, since a "real" pinnace (not that Merchantman ship called a Pinnace) has only two. I´ll give it a try.

Oh, and by the way, it´s nice to see you back, NK <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_praise.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="icon_praise.gif" />

Grimm, thank you. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

In re lugger, she has four (since they count the 'sprit as a mast), but JMV found you can use any gm for a mast (he used two instances of purse.gm when he made a cutter out of the lugger). With Inez's tool, now, you could just plain remove the locators, and move the others around to taste...

And HOW exactly do I place another mast on a ship, do I just have to copy the masts into the respective ship´s folder (with the appropriate names, of course) or do I have to do something else as well?

Grimm: Yep, you copy the mast and its associated rey files over.
Then, for extra credit, edit those GMs' locators and the hull GM's locators so the rope locators match. Otherwise the ropes will look odd and you'll get missing rope errors in system.log (harmless though).

You can even add and remove the locators that point to new geometry, i.e. remove the lugger's mast1 and mast4 locators to get rid of the bowsprit and mizzen.

{Edit: seems OK, deleted this section}

Thanks a lot NK, and for your `e-mails` <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I looked up the Lugger in the GMViever, indeed, it has four mast locators, though I´m not sure whether it really has four masts (including bowsprit, that´s three vertical ones). Using a Corvette for quite a while, I don´t even take a second look at Luggers anymore, when I encounter them.
