What's the difference?

Yes... What's the real difference between Age of Pirates and PotC?
I have played the game for a couple of hours already and have yet to see anything truly new.
Everything you can do in AoP you can do in PotC. AoP doesnt feel like a sequel to PotC, more like a small expanion or a major patch.

Also, what's the real point of the game?
After a couple of hours trading, escorting ships and doing governor mission the game got pretty boring and very repetive.
It didnt help when the english governor decided to give me the same missions over and over again, take this guy there, then that guy here, then pickup those documents there etc ....
Except getting lots of money that's good for nothing, and doing the only not repetetive mission in the game, the main quest, what is there to do?

Ah well... I still have PotBS to look forward to

AOP was originally designed to de a free mod for POTC. However as the mod followed progress, akella decided that this mod should be published as a game. That is the reason why there isn't much difference.

Before PotC there was "Sea Dogs", and I think that before "Sea Dogs" there was "Sea Legend", a very good game years ago. All of them are the same game, but as graphics has been improving with time, the game mechanics remain unchanched or simplified to the worse side.

The last ,AoP being half cooked and released in Beta version, without quest content, dialogs, and lacking polish in many aspects. With a great team and a year of work it could had be a new "Sea Legend" of my dreams, but i guess that money makes the world go round .

All in all, the graphics and overall plan of the game are a great work, and the open modded game is very promising. I am waiting for the "Secrets of Far Seas" addon by russian modders.
