Winice/softice debug message?

I have the English version and after some time want to play again and I now get this message on trying to launch the game re Debug winsoft/softice. Others have reported this as a protection problem I think. What is the fix for this? Thanks.

The last time I heard something of this, it had something to do with the Nero CD-burner program. Beats me why. I just really don't know why it's causing trouble. I have Nero installed and never had any trouble. Do you have any Nero Fastburning plug-in active in the background? Maybe such a program is causing trouble?

after scrolling through about 500 pages all full of rubbish i finally fouind this site and wow it's great. i had the exact same issue and uninstalled nero and proplem fixed aswell. weird kind of problem it is indeed <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I think he meant that he found "This" site, where we are right now, "Pirates Ahoy".
That was over a year ago.

I'd guess he was having the same problem as Cpn Kidd and not finding solutions until he came to PA
Here he found out that Nero could cause problems running POTC on some configurations.

I believe you don't need a web site to uninstall Nero.

i just realised something that would solve this problem if it's still there: the build has a no-CD crack included when you install it.

well, i think that nero is trying to burn (no, not litarally) the CD or something. the game can work without the CD, solving the problem. if i understood this right, that is.
