You survived this cowardly attack...

Oldtimer

Master Mariner
Hi all,

after being drawn into tavern brawls and surviving by killing off the opposition I observed some people will not talk to me anymore. Irrespectively of how long time has passed after the brawl and what rep I have.

Most annoying is smugglers taking offence, because after a while your smuggling opportunities dry up. Running a small ship stuffed with expensive officers means it`s necessary to smuggle now and then.
Now I try to run away from brawls, but it`s not always possible.

The NPC persons just stand up or run in circles and will not enter conversation. Is it a bug? If it`s WAD I think that this effect should wane with time and the players eventual rep increase.

Regards, Oldtimer

This is indeed a bug. In the latest modpack update, it should have been fixed. However, Screwface (who made the fix) said you will need to start a new game, because old savegames are "corrupted" by the bug. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hi Pieter,

thanks for prompt clarification.

I think I will wait with installing the latest update until it`s available as an all in one package, though.

Regards, Oldtimer

That can take a while, I'm afraid. I don't have space to upload an all in one package! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
I would recommend at least getting the update and, if you use the new islands, the new islands code file. That at least contains most of the latest fixes.

Hi Pieter,

well, I would like to follow your recommendation but I saw that this latest update requires manual reshuffling of files...

Being a complete computer dummy I am simply afraid of this.
Maybe some other member will be able to provide space needed for a complete package. After all, separating the pack can generate new bugs as you said yourself.

Regards, Oldtimer

The reshuffling isn't required. But if you want to see you loading screens, then you have to. With a bit of luck, it'll be easier again with the next update.

I wished I could make it one large file as well. But if I don't have the space, I simply don't have the space. Until somebody gives me some more. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hi Pieter,

then I think I will wait for the next update. And I fully understand that if you ain`t got something, then you ain`t got it.

Maybe this will stimulate myself to try and improve my non-existent computer skills.
Ah well, if something doesn`t exist, it`s damn hard to improve...

Regards, Oldtimer

waarom gebruik je niet www.yousendit.com ?? of rapidshare..

I don't use those sites because it takes a long time to upload the entire file and after a set number of downloads, the file will be removed from their servers again. If I take a long while uploading, I want the file t stay put. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Thanks for the offer, S31Apoc. At the moment, I don't think I'll be needing more webspace. Since my site got moved last week, I have 200 MB space on PiratesAhoy and 200 MB on webspace provided by High Sea Lass. I think I should be fine for the moment. Very big thanks anyway!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
