Your experiences from playing Build 13 full.

i have exactly that situation, but then with everything i do on my computer. my father thinks that my computer is overheating because of to little mhz, causing it to crash, but hook says it's the power supply. i'll just have to wait until my father realises he was wrong (AGAIN), and but a better power supply.

Insufficient power supply is maybe you problem byt not mine. I have very good power supply Fortron 500W. If it would be power supply that causes your problems you had to have similar crashing problems in any other games and probably in the course of your any other work at your computer. But if you have power supply about 350W you should definitely exchange it. But I am not convinced it is the issue that causes your problem with PoTC. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

good god! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> i just saw in very tiny letters that the maximum output of power supply is 145W! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> no wonder!

edit: i told my father and he still think that it should be more than enough to work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> YEAH RIGHT! just to be sure, i have:

three cards with 126MB ram each,
several cards with a total of 600 mhz, (way to little, even under minimum PotC specs)
a Nvidia GeForce2 and a total of 10 GB of harddrive space. (but still to little. 4 GB is for the C-drive, which is nearly full simply because of all those windows XP components, and the rest is for the D-drive which i install my game on.)

Morgan, as I can see what computer do you have, so, I think it would be maybe useless to exchange your power supply. I think for your computer it is maybe sufficient and it would be probably vasting your money. But maybe you power supply is somehow defective already, I do´t know. You should better to buy complete new computer already, I think. Graphic card Ge Force 2 is really prehistory already at this time. Anyway, for your computer is sufficient to use 300 -350W or maybe it is sufficient only 250W, I don´t know. Today´s modern computers are much more demanding what about power supply concerns, especially new graphic cards. It would be the best if you would consult the situation about your computer with some computer specialist what to do with it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

you don't need a computer specialist to know that i should just trash the thing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> i don't have any new slots for hardware left so i actually should upgrade it with a lot of parts that would be much more expensive in total than buying a new one. actually, the geforce 2 is way better than the one i had before. that one couldn't even run pirate hunter/the first tortuga. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> i'm pretty much grounded to this one at the moment, so that sucks.

500 bucks will get you into a decent gaming computer...and a nice one if your not afraid to go rebuilt or used.

hell a PS3 is 600 bucks !

Total crap because it has integrated video card at motherboard. Nothing for player. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

i wouldn't be able to buy it anyway, and my father wouldn't want to. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Integrated cards are getting better <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> And since it is sold as a gaming PC, they wouldn't want to put crap in it... <a href="http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2539&p=4" target="_blank">Geforce 6100</a>

Hey if your spending LESS money on a PC rig that will play games...even though I agree integrated cards are NOT the way to go if you can help it.

Any way you are spending less on a PC with an XP operating system that can also do your music and video..DVD and CD drives...

For less than a PS3 .

I spent over 4000 bucks on a Gaming rig...I could have spent more...I almost did...but cripes when's enough ?

And I took the easy way out ..if I was hard core I could have gotten much more for the money..but I took the easy way out .

Even my other PC 's have been upgraded to at least 512 ram and all have seperate graphics cards...but only one is strickly used for games.

When I got my first one I thought 37 gb was a large HD .and 256 ram with a 68 ram card was state of the art ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I remember trying to play a DVD format game.....I didn't even know they MADE DVD format games.....and taking it back to the store because " it didnt work " . <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" />

...so DVD drive ...seperate Hard drive storage..upgrade video card...upgrade ram....then games come out that are too much for the processor that , when bought was THE processor... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

You add all that up and the PC you spent 2600 bucks on becomes a 3500 buck pc that cant run BF 2 because the processor is too slow. at 2.3 ghz..I think BF -2 requires 2.5

see how fast you start figuring out all the mistakes you made ..Dell is a beatch to upgrade..expensive for memory..

Instead of getting a great lap top...I took thatt money and threw it into the pile for the game rig.

I can stick 6000 ram in it and another HD and its set up for more expansion when 64 bits becomes more common and they work all the bugs out. I already have my eye on another card with 512 ram..GTX Nvida...

Who needs food when you can get a great graphics card? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I was getting PC magazine and they always put out a list of bargain PC gaming rigs and rate them....I'm telling you you can get some decent stuff for the money .

If you know what your doing you can build your own rig with ten times the performance for the money....I know I had it done right in front of me by one of my more savvy buds ..when he found out what I spent for my crap ..he went insane ...and he showed me what I COULD have had I almost cried .

Me my brother and my son are saving up now for a dedicated gamer....Dual sreen...the works...like james bond stuff ..we already buit it online ..just gotta come up with the cash .
Its like being a heroin addict.

As I can see Rico, you don´t understand computers at all if you are able to proclaim something like that. Who told you such a bullshit that integrated video card is better? You can´t believe what sellers want to sugest you. I have GeForce 6600 GT and it is almost crap today. But I can still exchange it for better. But if you have integrated video card you can do nothing. Only to buy a complete new computer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

could you build something like this for 1650 .00 ( US ) dollars ?

BTW I do not recall anyone saying an integrated card is better . Its just CHEAPER...for the performance you can get with todays integrated cards...like being able to play Halo 2 ....for the money involved...less than 500.00

compared to an X-Box or a PS3 or even a PS2 ....the better value BY FAR is the PC.

Especially when you consider the PC comes with a monitor and speakers...the game console comes with wires .

with the major companies like HP and gateway and others offering refurbished systems that have been built up to higher spec...more ram better card and hard drive storage....for almost half of what a comparable NEW system might cost . Your into an adequate gaming rig for 600.00 or less and for 400 bucks you can get a system that will play most PC games.

So what if I pay 450.00 Bucks for a PC and then a year later have to buy another one ?

Hows that different from spending 200 to 300 on a new and better Video card a few hundred for Ram and a Hundred to two hundred for more hard drive when I upgrade my current rig ?

Did you ever do the math ? Be assured I DO . And I have FOUR people living in my house all wanting to play games or use a PC for different reasons and with only three systems with different performance someones always left without a chair .

And upgrading is only cost effective if you have a processor that can utilize the upgrades.

I have a carton of extra PC parts to prove it .

Those are the specs for a custom built gaming rig we were just looking to get...

But $4800 .00 ......we are just looking...and then staring....

Plus the cooling is all fans....not good when you have dogs and cats...

If anyone has suggestions...that actually builds these things ...please chime in.

I want as much as I can get for the money this time around.

I' suggest you price out those parts for that system from yer local PC shops, ye might be suprised when ye shop around find some deals, you can probly cut that price in half buy'n the parts seperatly, build it yerself, its actualy realy easy, I built two systems this way at nearly half the cost of buy'n a prebuilt rig, and I didn't have any computer building experience, i do know however, know how to read instructions. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Current Rig
Antek aluminum game server case
Intel P4 3.2 GHZ
1GB DDR2 Ram memory
Gigabyte 800 FSB M.B. integretad audio
Antek 500W Power supply
Gigabyte GF6600GT 256Mb Video card
DVD Drive
Maxtor 80GB Hard drive
Samsung 940B 19" LCD monitor
Windows XP Pro
Total cost of parts about $2,100 CDN bucks. At time this system was built,to buy equivalant in PC stores about $3,500.
Cost to build system
$26.00 for a bottle of Cap'n Morgan's Rum, and a slight heart murmur when I first plugged it in <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

As I can see Skull we have similar video cards and even almost the same monitors. My GF 6600 GT has only 128 MB and it´s a pitty. I have Samsung SyncMaster 940BF. I think I couldn´t do better choice what about this monitor concerns. I am very satisfied with it. It has response 2 ms and this function Magic Bright is very good, I think. And I have no defective pixels yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

The parts from that system are all from Tiger Direct.

How much would I be saving ...aside from not having a warantee for two years with in home service. By Building it myself?

I already have Built one PC from the remains of three that I have from Dell...so its not really that hard...the Mother board is already done when you get it and its all plugging stuff in right after that.

I go to a site and build stuff online ..then buy the stuff ...at least that was my plan...until I decided I rather like having a warantee...

My frankenstein Dell works fine ...its been running almost constantly for a year . But for all the money...I just feel better with a warantee and a good old non out sourced ...made / assembled in the US non hassle...unless you can show me a huge saving,,

The most I can come up with is 858.00 plus the cost for the warantee for a 4500.00 system..BUT the cost of extra shipping knocks that down by 250 to 300 bucks unless you get everything from the same place and ship it all at once...even then the shipping cost are 90 dollars more..( shipping is free if they assemble it...or included in the price...no such thing as free ) .

Just to get back on topic a bit....

Has anyone figured out why the game crashes when you beat the fort at Tortuga?

Also why are the forts at St Martin " invincible " ?

Hi Rad, yes I am very happy with my monitor as well,LCD is the only way to go.

Ledhed, true enuff you don't get home service, but you do get a manafacturer warranty on all parts bought, my own personal experience with my homebuilt PC over the last 5 years, only had one part crapout and that was my hardrive.I've never bought anything from Tiger direct, all parts were bought from local PC wholesale shops on sale most of them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I completely agree with Skull. I only bought my first computer about 13 years ago. And from that time I build them myself. I would never buy complete computer anymore. You can´t even exchange any stupid component as RAM or DVD drive because your computer is sealed and if you would do anything by yourself you would lose your guarantee. And by the way if you buy complete and sealed computer you will never have any certainty what is inside of it. They can allege something what about components concerns and the reality can be a little different. I experienced it just with my first the only bought computer. But on the other hand if you don´t know how to do it you can destroy some components by improper manipulation. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Never heard of that ..I did not void my warantee by installing a new video card or adding more ram. As long as the stuff you are using is compatible with the system your all good.

I'm just too lazy I guess...and when I spend too much money I like having a little safety net... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
