"Modify Ship" function from the shipyard (In Prog)

the platings below waterline started roughly at 1680s, but ONLY for the English. The other nations had to wait till the start of the 18th century. Which went into the whole 'bigger heavier slower' ship philosophy they used anyway. And it was mainly ment to keep the sea life off the wooden hull...

    Ship encounters need tweaking

Mark is right, I apologise but I seem to have had 2 threads open in tabs and posted on the wrong one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":E" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> Anyway, to the topic. I just came back from game where I encountered...

"Modify Ship" function from the shipyard (In Prog)

As for the armor, the ironclads were indeed the first in, starting at, 1859. It all started in 1840s with the new technological inventions (steam engine), but that's way beyond the PotC timeline. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship#Early_battleships"...

    Ship encounters need tweaking

True, the land figthing is stil la bit *odd*, given that you go in there with 5 people and there are 5 people defendin the fort? I know this *represents* the actuall number, but it would be really cool to actually see the entire crew vs the entire fort crew... I have no idea what that would do...

"Modify Ship" function from the shipyard (In Prog)

Yes, don't get me wrong, I think the ideas are great, but every improvement needs to have a downside if it is modifying the ship, otherwise it's upgrading. Modifying would go more to the edhe of reducing one thing to increase the other, it would give anyone a chance to set the ship up as they...

    Defining a Common Goal

I lost 85% of my crew in 3 broadsides from the new Hispaniola fort (which is preety fast) with a Ship of the Line. My defence is lvl 9 (officers ftw) and have Advanced Ship Defence trained. Playing on average difficulty. I just think that it may be a *bit* over-rated. And yeah Bones I corrected...

    Defining a Common Goal

The closes the sources get to just how many crew was actually killed by it is 'many', which is a highly subjective term and it doesn't even say they actually died from splinters. Many people didn't die from pistol bullets, splinters? And as for not having splinters on the entry hole, I apologise...

"Modify Ship" function from the shipyard (In Prog)

I have to disagree with most of kblack's ideas. Reason? If they were good, they would already be implemented. I mean, why wouldnt the original shipyard improve the ships with it when they built it? That would be change as opposed the entire ship price. And the 'Expensive' comments also, you get...

    Defining a Common Goal

Well I have to agree with Bones here. One of the reasons wood was a good material is because it, upon impact, did not 'explode' or 'splinter', it just made a hole (well if it was a quality wood which it usually was) and imagine how hard it is to hit more than 1 person with a ~20 cm iron ball...

    New Islands Mod

Is it just me or are the forts way tougher to take down in the new islands? I have a SotL and I can take any fort easily, but the new ones just wipe me :S

    Pre Build 13 Modpack

Well given the Almighty 'Auto Buy' button I guess it would bother noone, but in the stock version it would kind of get tedious selling 26572574274267 different kinds of goods (all in the amount of '1') while capturing every singe ship. More to the topic, I just installed the update (used only...

"Modify Ship" function from the shipyard (In Prog)

I have to agree with Ron here, if there were things that would help with no disadvantages, they would have already done it. What's the cost of an extra mast as opposed to building a new ship on which to use it? Also, there is one other important issue, abilites that are effected by changes need...

"Modify Ship" function from the shipyard (In Prog)

All you guys talk about is great wit copper stuff and things like that, but thats just ship upgrades. Granted, enabling them s we could upgrade the ship other than just the cannons would be great, but I dont think this mod is ment to do that, but rather allow you to 'twek' your ship - just like...
