    Dancing? Oh! It's difficult!

The tip that helped me the most is one I've only seen posted rarely - go to your graphic options and turn things down a bit. I had everything maxed, and never noticed a problem. But it seems that something behind the scenes was operating too slowly, and by the time my monitor showed me my...

    That's right - career pirates? That's sooooo 1600's. Now retirement pirates - THAT'S the wave of the future! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

    This game blows!

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->lapdog27: Good. Then perhaps this means we wont see you on this board anymore?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> I think that's a little harsh - this is a site for fans of pirate games, not a Sid Meier's fansite.

    This game blows!

My copy hasn't arrived yet, so I've really no right to comment - but you think it's worse than Port Royale 2? ??? ??? Port Royale 2 blew squid chunks! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0"...

Pirates should be out today, correct?

If you look around the forum a bit, you'll see that most every one of us are staking out our local stores or anxiously awaiting Mr. UPS to stop by. Yes, it's supposed to arrive at stores today. When it arrives is debateable. And some stores might not get it today, might have to wait 'til...

    Voodoo Islands...

Don't know if anyone else has caught this yet, but the <a href="http://www.voodooislands.com" target="_blank">Voodoo Islands site</a> has once again changed. It still only consists of an index page, but offers a small snippet of text about the hero, "Graham" (what happened to Captain Kidd?)...

No `T-shirt` or map for the Americans??

I'm not going crazy - Game Stop still lists a parchment map as one of the features: The Limited Edition contains the following bonus features: * Pirates! on DVD * High quality parchment map * Unique mods locked to the Limited Edition * Mod tools * The Original Pirates game *...

No `T-shirt` or map for the Americans??

Wait - I seem to recall that when I ordered it, a map WAS listed as one of the special features. Am I going crazy? The `T-shirt` would be a nice bonus, but I'll be pretty steamed if I don't get the map I was expecting.

Practicalities of being an old fashioned Pirate.

P'haps we should open the forum to name suggestions, and the best can be voted one? As to the ship name, I've always been partial to "The Raging Benthos" - but I'd love to hear other ideas.

Practicalities of being an old fashioned Pirate.

I'm 'fraid twon't be for a spell yet, me mate. I've a time 'head of me afore I'm old 'nuff to get away with this sort'v endeavourous undertakin without landin' m'self in the brig. Methinks we can't cast off in earnest tills our average age is at least 65 - only then can we look the coast guard...

    Question about Limited Edition `DVD-Rom`

I've already ordered the LE, with plans to buy a DVD drive sometime in November for exactly that reason. So I have to ask - why is the LE on DVD? What enhancements will it bring? Better graphics? Faster loading? Multiple angles during the naughty scenes? What?

Practicalities of being an old fashioned Pirate.

Thor - I don't know the historical specifics, but I think you raise an interesting point about pirates perhaps being more inclined to learn to swim than an "honest" sailor. Seems to me that it would only be a matter of time before a pirate has to jump overboard to make an escape, gets dumped...

A'right, DeCuervo - yer our new musketeer. And while yer in the crow's nest, methinks yer our lookout as well.

Practicalities of being an old fashioned Pirate.

You a genuine marine, DeCuervo? If so, you're definitely in. If not, then you must pass the THREE TRIALS (dangit, I keep letting people into my crew, and I keep forgetting about those stinking trials <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif"...

Practicalities of being an old fashioned Pirate.

Sorry, Child of Thor, but it sounds to me like the primary navigator qualification ye be offerin is that ye've been lucky in the past, so I don't think I'll be placin ya in that position just yet. However, as ye've expressed concern in yer origninal post as to the diet 'n stress of the pirate...

Practicalities of being an old fashioned Pirate.

Actually, I have a plan for recapturing the fun and romance of "true" piracy - no uzis and rubber boats for me! Step 1) Wait till I'm so old that cops will feel bad about putting me in jail. Step 2) Dress like a proper pirate and get myself a nice traditional sloop. Step 3) Get...
