More questsions and wishes about ships and cannons....

The stuff is automatically transfered between ships. If you have extra cannons, they will go to your flagship, until you have the max number of cannons that your flagship will hold. If you change flagships, all the cannons you have will transfer to the new flagship, up to the max number for...

Has anyone ever actually been to Gran Granada?

That's what I did. I was playing for the French, and Panama and Gran Grenada were my last two sacks. Every city was French. I finished Gran Grenada, sailed to St. Augustine, and retired.

A game looking like those funny Pirates battles?

Has anyone ever actually been to Gran Granada?

I would like the option to escort troops to my cities I am trying to build up, or an option to leave some of my crew to guard the city, until replacements arrive. I was playing last night, and had just sacked Santa Marta and installed a French Governor. I then headed to Cartagena to sack it...

If Pirates were more like real life...

The special items should be important and hard to get, but they should not cost as much as an entire city is worth. One time I bought a diamond necklace for something like 6600 gold from wealthy Havana. I left town, landed, and sacked Havana. I got 6000 gold from the sacking. How can one...

Has anyone ever actually been to Gran Granada?

I have played over 25 complete games, and I have never been to Gran Grenada or Panama. I have only been to Puerto Principe one time, and that was because a treasure was right by it. I am a sea dog - not a land lubber, however, in my current game, I am going to change every Spanish city, so I...

    wealth points

I don't like the scoring system. I don't like the scoring system in Civ3 either. If you want to be able to compare your game with others, then you have to play it a certain way. It takes away from the "open ended" and "role playing" factors, to show those points at the end of the game, and to...

    Crew Morale by the numbers

<!--`QuoteBegin-Spudgy`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Spudgy)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I'm now at 33 months on Apprentice level. I have the cook plus 97,766 gold and my crew of 120 is happy (or very happy, I can't tell from the smilie). That's only 815 gold per man but...

The captain of the guard in the tavern, any point?

Yes, I know you get more men if you fight him first. I haven't tested it fully, but in my experience, it is always exactly 10 extra men each time. I still don't think it's worth the hassle. 10 men hardly ever makes a difference, and you can always go to the next town or pirate haven to get...

The captain of the guard in the tavern, any point?

They call him the "Annoying Captain" for a reason. It is not because he is bothering the barmaid, it's because he annoys the hell out me every time I see him. He only seems to be there when I need some information. I think the whole thing is stupid. It ranks right up there with pollution in...

Bug? First family quest, Baron Raymondo (spelling) where?

I know he bounces around, but we are talking about him never getting to a city he was going to. After they tell you where he is headed, he will go to that city first, before moving on to the next one. We are not talking about him beating us there, then leaving to go to the next place before we...

    Crew Morale by the numbers

If your crew is OK now, they will not get any worse unless you somehow loose a lot of gold. You have passed the initial couple of years, so time is not a factor any more, just gold per man. Now it's just a matter of whether, or not, your skills will hold out for you, or you get tired of playing.

    Crew Morale by the numbers

To those who read the post earlier, I am sorry. There were errors in the first two charts. I have corrected them. There is a very good reason for that. It was late at night, and I had been staring at the screen for hours, after having a long New Years Eve the night before. I did some rounding...

    Crew Morale by the numbers

I did some testing on the effects of Crew Morale. The biggest factor is amount of gold per man. Length of time at sea factors in, but only in the first part of the journey. After a certain period of time at sea, the crew will start caring about their cut, and the amount they care will...

Bug? First family quest, Baron Raymondo (spelling) where?

You may need to sail back towards the port he was leaving. I have waited for him for over two years near St. Augustine, when he was supposed to be traveling from Santiago to St. Augustine. I finally gave up and headed towards Santiago. He was down there actually south of Santiago, and he was...

No pirate duels if you damage their ship?

After I get a proper boat (frigate, large frigate, or ship of the line), I will almost always beat the enemy ship down until it surrenders. I try running with as little crew as possible until I have built up enough wealth to keep them happy. I try to only divide the plunder once or twice...
